The year is 1,050 of the Third Age. The forest of Greenwood is facing a year of great change. Darkness has begun to descend on the forest, with rumors that evil is dwelling in the stronghold of Dol Goldur, located in the south of the vast forest. Evil things are said to roam freely among the trees again, with spiders being the most numerous of these creatures. Regardless of what many say, the forest itself is not safe any longer. No one is allowed to be outside the Palace walls without an accompanying archer or swordsman, for safety reasons. Yet, despite all the problems, it is also a year of celebration, especially for the Royal family. It is King Thranduil's 1,000th year of ruling in the forest realm, Prince Aradan's ascension to Captain of the Royal Guard, Prince Legolas' completion of his formal warrior training, and Princess Mirwen's coming of age. Celebrations mark each of these events, but disturbances could very well occur at each event. An investigation is also to be launched into the rumors of something evil dwelling in Dol Goldur, but what will the result of that investigation be?
Obviously, in this one, there is apt to be violence, and romance is welcome.

<center>Echuir 48th/April 19th, 1050 TA</center>
Early as it was that morning, a cold wind blowing through the trees was not exactly out of place. With the time of year taken into consideration, however, it was decidedly odd. But, then again, odd things had already been occurring within the forest of Greenwood for four months. Rumors of a growing darkness abounded, darkness that was spreading all throughout the vast forest.
An investigation had been launched into the source of all these problems, but nothing useful had been discovered. Yet, despite the constant threat of spider attacks, and attacks from other fiercer creatures, Greenwood, by then known as Mirkwood, was preparing. This year was to be a year of great celebration. Preparations were already underway for a grand feast on April 23rd, the Elven New Year. That day would also mark King Thranduil's thousandth year of reigning over the forest, which was going to make the celebration far more elaborate.
"..and make sure the archers set up a perimeter around the celebrations." Aradan, the Crown Prince of the realm, was saying to the Captain of the Royal Guard.
"Yes, my lord." came the response with a bowing of aforementioned Captain's head. "I'll see to that personally." With a bow, the Captain headed off to relate this plan.
Pausing where he stood in the hallway, Aradan breathed a quiet sigh. He had taken it on himself to see to so many of the preparations for the feast, which meant he had been very busy the past few days. But it was, if not his responsibility, his obligation. His sister, soon to come of age, was too young to have to deal with all of this, and his mother, the Queen, had died just months before. Of course, that left him to handle everything, much as it annoyed him at times.
"Aradan.."
That small voice brought the Prince out of his reverie, and he turned.
"Did you..forget that you said you'd help me with my archery?" asked his sister, Mirwen, in a quiet voice. She looked sorry to be bothering, yet hopeful at the same time.
"No, I didn't forget." he said, with a smile to ease her fears. "I was just about to come find you."
A smile spread across Mirwen's features, and Aradan then noticed the unstrung bow in her hand, and the quiver on her back.
"Ready?" he asked, and after recieving a nod in response, the two of them began the long trek through the Palace to a side entrance, which they used to slip out to the archery range unnoticed.
(Geez..long post..>.< Sorry, had an idea, and had to elaborate on it..)

An Elf Warrior Maiden took out her bow and shot a few arrows for practice, just in case she needed them. She need to find Aradan, though, to ask him a question of importance. She put her bow on her back and went out to the fields in search of the prince.

Once outside, Mirwen shivered against the sudden cool weather, and Aradan, seeing this, took off his cloak and put it around her shoulders. Mirwen gave him a smile of thanks, and he smiled a bit in return.
"Now, string your bow, and I'll make sure the targets are set up properly." Aradan said, and walked away as she began stringing her bow. He then made a cursory check of the targets, making sure they stood sturdy. Once certain, he walked back over to his sister.

A hooded rider, and a black friesian mare with a cresent star on it's forhead, galloped through the forest. Horse and rider made it to the palace, and the rider dismounted.
Lughir, the elf's name was, was suprised that he, a dunadain, had been invited to the festivals. Or was it that Aradan wanted him to help keep a look out for trouble at the celebration?
The elf have the rein's over to a stableboy and went into the castle...

Turwaithiel walked up behind them and decided not to bother them yet. She decided to watch.

Another Elf maiden silently made her way to Turwaithiel's side and looked on as she watched the Elven Royalty pratice archery. When the first arrow had been shot, Aramel turned to Turwaithiel with a smile. "Suilaid, Mellon-nin."

Testing the string on her bow to be sure it was taut enough, Aradan finally nodded. "Just taut enough, good job. Now, nock an arrow."
Mirwen did just that, holding it loosely to the string, looking at her brother for confirmation.
"All right, now pull the string back, like I taught you."
And pull back the string she did, but she had her grip all wrong, and the arrow slipped a bit. Unable to hide a smile of amusement, Aradan took hold of both of her wrists gently. "Now..try again."
This time, with the extra help with her grip, she pulled the string all the way back, and the arrow, once released, thudded in the target and embedded in the very center.
