Caden sighed. " theres nothing we can do..." he said sadly.

Ace had been standing in the doorway listening to all this. she saw the sad look in Bret's eyes. " Shonnalen...remember what i told you about my parents...i think Caden and the other scienticts should know."
" i'm the only one left...i'm 22 the rest were all older.." he said speaking up.
Ace nodded. " okay then..." she said. she looked at Shonna for permission. she had grown to respect her.


Trudy smiled. " jealous?" she giggled. she looked down at her unwraped arm. the air was begining to sting it. " could you finish bandaging this up for me..i have a feeling Caden will be a little while." she said.

"Go ahead." Shonnalen said walking over to a chair to sit down. "You need to tell him anyway so you can help the others." She made the statement as if she agreed with Caden that it was to late for her.

Brendon turned and looked at her arm. "Yeah ... He better not get any ideas about my sister. I've just now got used to Bret." He carefully cleaned the wound like Shonna had taught him, then wrapped the bandage round her arm to keep it from getting infected again. When that was done he looked up at her. "Tell me you love me?" He asked tilting his head a little to the side and smileing softly.

Ace sighed. " well it started like this..." she said. she told everyone there her whole story.
Bret stood there with his mouth hanging open.
Caden looked at her and nodded. he gathered as much info as he could.
after about 15 minuets Ace was done. she sighed. " so yeah...thats everything."
Caden nodded. " i'm going to need to run some tests..." Caden said softly. " ace would you come with me?" he said
Ace nodded and walked with him.

Bret stood there for a moment and watched them leave. he looked down at Shonna. " there's hope." he said looking down at her. he got down on his knees in front of her and laid his head in her lap. " there's hope..." he said again trying not to cry.

Trudy gritted her teeth and tried not to cry out as he wrapped the bandage tightly. when all was done she smiled at him and wraped her arms around him. " i love you...a lot.." she said.

Shonnalen absently played with Bret's hair. "It's ok ... " She closed her eyes suddenly tired. Her hand stopped moveing and fell limply by her side as she fell asleep.

Brendon smiled. "I love you too ... Alot." He wrapped his arms around her.

Bret lifted his head and saw that shonnalen was asleep. he lifted her from where she was and brought her out to the room where Trudy and Brendon were.

Trudy pulled away quickly as she saw bret.
Bret shook his head and sighed but said nothing more.
he pulled another strecher over and put shonnalen on it. " you two having fun?" he asked.

Brendon looked over his shoulder his soulder at Bret. "Oodles, You're just jealous cuz you havn't gotten Shonna to kiss you yet." He turned back to Trudy and kissed her again.

Brendon stiffened slightly the smile fadeing from his face. He didn't really know if she had or not, so he bluffed hopeing he was right. "She's too loyal ... " He said in reference to Shonna's late boyfriend Mark. Once again a teasing grin lit his face, making his green eyes dance with silent laughter when there was no responce to his comment.

"Ok ..." Brendon said, the rest of his sentence getting cut off by her kiss.

Shonnalen slept till the next morning, and by that time the intermittent headaches were replaced by bouts of fever.

Trudy lay on the strecher asleep with Brendon right by her side as always. she was wrapped up in his arms dead asleep.

Ace and Caden had been up half the night running blood test. his equpment wasnt picking up anything..but it was also run down and old. at around 4 they had gone to bed.

Bret was sitting in a near by chair reading the paper not able to sleep at all that night. he saw Shonna open her eyes and he smiled at her. " goodmorning" he wispered.

Shonnalen turned her head to look at Bret and sat up. She tried to stand, but her legs wouldn't hold her and she ended up sitting on the floor. She lay her head on Bret's lap once again closeing her eyes.

Brendon woke up and smiled. He didn't move for fear of wakeing Trudy.
