"I don't know," Darius remarked to Rosalina gently. "The mage told me that she has some sort of ability to heal herself quicker than most, but considering the beating she endured, if she does survive, it will take her awhile to heal," he told her gently. Darius knew that Gareth had not lied when he spoke of the Head daughter's ability. Being a mythical creature he could smell when a person was dying and he was surprised that she was still alive. Most women would already have succumbed to their injuries.

Carrying Calista to her room, Gareth gently laid the woman on the bed and gently tucked her in. Sighing softly, Calista's lashes slowly fluttered as she looked up at Gareth and gave him a weak smile, her blue eyes still glazed with pain.
"I love you," she managed to croak out, needing to look upon on him one last time in case her body gave out.
"I love you too," Gareth told her gently as he caressed her face. "Just rest and heal. I will take care for you. I promise," he whispered, knowing that he needed to go and find some healing herbs and quickly but was loathed to leave her unattended. His spell could only do so much and since he was not proficient in the healing arts, the spell could sustain her but would not heal her wounds as quickly as the correct herbs.
Giving him a soft smile, Calista allowed her eyes to flutter close as she sank in unconsciousness once more.

Rosalina looked at Darius as a thought struck her. "Our bags, Are they still here?" she asked. In the bags she had a small amount of herbs in case she or Darius needed them. there wasn't alot, and she knew how to heal minor injuies with them, but she wanted to try, even if she was also sore, weak, and tired.

"Yes, they are. I placed them in the main room---unless the Head tossed them," Darius remarked softly. Walking into the main room, Darius saw their bags still sitting where he had placed them, untouched. "Why?" he asked Rosalina next.

"How is my daughter?" Daniel asked as he hobbled into the room as the mage was trying to use a chant to sustain her once again, and growing frustrated at the little progress he was making. If truth were told, she seemed to be getting worse, not better. She had not awoken since she lost consciousness again and her breathing had grown shallow. Her fair skin had grown to a sickening pasty color, making the wounds stand out all the more.
"She drifts in and out of consciousness but I fear that she is barely clinging to life. I need to find herbs. If not I do not know how long she will be able to hold on," Gareth remarked.
"Go, I'll stay with her," Daniel said softly.
Loathed to leave her side in case something happened, but knowing the best aide he could give her was to search for the herbs, Gareth slowly nodded his assent. "Take care of your daughter," he told him as he left Calista's room and headed toward the main room which led to the entrance and exit only to find the mythical beast and his lady there.

"Ro, you need to rest. You are still weak from what you endured," Darius whispered, not wanting to set her down. He respected this woman for her caring heart but she needed to think about herself as well. "I am sorry, but I won't let you do a thing until you are better," he remarked. He loved this woman dearly. She was the best he ever knew and while he admired her gentle nature, he was adamant in wanting her to rest.
"You have herbs?" Gareth asked not caring how rude he was being for interrupting the conversation between the two. With Calista' life on the balance, propriety had lost all meaning for him. "Please let me use them to save her. I can amplify the power of the herbs," he said softly, desperate to try anything, knowing that if he had to go out to search for the herbs it could take too much time, time Calista did not have.
"My lady needs her rest," Darius interrupted the mage curtly, irritated at him. "You have the audacity to demand a thing from her."
"And my lady is near death," Gareth replied harshly to Darius. "She would aide you if our fortunes were reversed. Why do you think her father allowed you shelter now," he added, his stern comments directed only at the mythical creature.

Rosalina sighed and as the two men argued, she wiggled fro Darius's hold, groaning as she hit the ground, but she got up, went to her pack and took the herbs and went to the room she had seen the woman be taken, walking stiffly and sore as she did.

"Ro!" Darius yelled as the woman wiggled herself out of his arms and landed on the ground. Before he could pick her up, the woman stood and walked toward Calista's room.
Glaring at Darius, Gareth did not say another word as he hurried after Rosalina.
Shaking his head in frustration with the mage, Darius just hurried after them. He could tell from Rosalina's gait that she was in a lot of pain and he would rather have her use the herbs on herself than on another.
When they arrived at Calista's room, Gareth nodded at the woman's father who sat at her side. Walking over to her bedside he placed his ear close to her face and was relieved to hear that she was still breathing although each breath was weak. Her face seemed even paler than when he left her, making her look as a living corpse, and soot still clung in her blonde hair from when she raced into a burning hovel to save Damon. "This lady was kind enough to offer us herbs," Gareth remarked to Daniel, trying to mask how upset he was.
"Thank you. I am in your debt," Daniel told Rosalina, gratitude in his eyes and voice.
"As am I," Gareth remarked gently. "Let me see the herbs so I can amplify their power with my magic," he remarked softly, urgency in his voice.

Rosalina nodded. "I need to know what wounds are worse. That would determine how to prepare the herbs." she said. "Will I have to make a tea for her to drink, or a paste. Or have them pressed to the wounds." Rosalina looked at the two men. "I was taught back home."

"The bruises and cuts are severe," Gareth remarked quietly. "But are not the injuries that worry me," he remarked.
"What do you mean?" Daniel asked.
"When I found her there was a dried stream of blood from her lips which tells me that some of the injuries she sustained are internal. How severe those are, I cannot determine," he added. "But many times, those are the injuries that prove to be fatal."
"So what should she do?" Daniel asked.
"In my experience, I would advise the tea," he said softly, hoping that he could rouse Calista enough to drink it.

Rosalina nodded. "I need a pot of boiling water. I may have to use all the herbs." She said and went to the only table in the room to unpack the leaves, wencing as she walked and sat. "These are to big for tea, so I will tear them to smaller peices as the water and fire is prepared." She said and started.

"Gareth, get a fire started," Daniel commanded, although he really didn't need to. Leaving the room for a brief moment Gareth got the largest pot in the home before drawing water from the well and placing the water in it. Once finished he set the pot in the fireplace and instantly started a fire under it as Rosalina tore the leaves.
"Ro, you could use some of the herbs as well," Darius said quietly.
"He's right," Gareth agreed as he walked to where Rosalina and Darius were. Chanting a spell as he waved his hand over the herbs, Gareth quickly enhanced their healing properties, meaning they could use less to achieve the same effect. "Calista would never forgive me for allowing you to use all the herbs to heal her when you are in need of them as well," Gareth remarked softly. Knowing the woman most of her life, the mage knew she would already feel terrible for all the attention she was receiving now when others could be tended too.

Rosalina shook her head. "She needs them more then I. I will heal in time. I would never be so selfish as to use what is needed by another." SHe said as she kept ripping the herbs, then took them to the pot and put them in the water, and for a moment the wrist she had cut was exposed.

Listening to Rosalina speak, Darius felt two emotions fill him. An indescribable admiration and love for this unselfish noble woman with utter exasperation with her lack of concern for herself.
"Ro, you could hurt yourself worse if you do not let your own injuries be tended to," Darius interjected. Yes he was concerned about the village Head's daughter, but when it came down to it, he loved Ro more.
"Though my heart wants all the aid possible for her whom I love, your companion makes a valid argument. You need not use all the herbs now. Calista will never forgive herself if you were hurt more because of this," Gareth added softly.
Turning his attention to Gareth briefly, Darius grudgingly had to give the mage a small measure of respect for at least showing some measure of concern for another outside his circle.

Rosalina sighed. and stopped puting the herbs in, she had a quarter left. She looked at Darius. "Alright." she went back to the table to prepare the rest a different way. But as she did, the lack of energy caught up with her, and she stumbled for a moment. "I'm fine." she said.

A bit relieved when Rosalina kept some of the herbs back, Darius felt that same sensation vanish in a rush as she stumbled for a moment. Moving to her side, he quickly wrapped an arm around her to support her. "No you are not," he said softly. "You need to rest," he remarked. "Tell us what needs to be done and the mage can probably take over from there," he remarked and glanced over at Gareth as if daring him to argue with him now.
"Your friend is right," Gareth said simply as Daniel was about to protest but Gareth silenced him with a look.

Rosalina looked at Darius and sighed. She looked to The mage. "keep them boiling until the water is the color of the herbs, and you can't see the bottom. When you put it into a cup, make sure there are some herbs too, so she takes them in as well as the tea." She told him and leaned onto Darius, her energy felt drained. She had moved around to much.
