Very clever, human.

Reyas Shademr folded his arms as he watched. A week on Pataos, and what had he learned? The humans had been afflicted by the successor wars just as the elves. They were faring just as badly. Still, at least they were doing something about it. The orcs were squabbling so viciously over Mezzalech that the dark elves didn't even have room for movement. The only problem now was that he had no way to get off the island. The battle had destroyed all means of transportation.

He shuffled his feet and coughed, keeping up his pretense. The villagers of the island thought him a mute peasant. It was just as well.

Arigof and then crowd left leaving Aver alone at the gate of his tower, construction masters and workers began bringing out supplies, people began working on their destroyed homes to build more sturdier out of them. In many years the quarry started working once more bringing some stones to build sturdier buildings and every seemed to have their hands full. Aver had sent his spies all over Pataos and few to the coast of Qattara where layed many towns. They had felt the war before Pataos so Aver wasn`t sure of their current actoins, but the disperssing successor troops had destroyed their lands more than Pataos. If Aver and arigof could convince the coast settlements to join their efforts they all could prosper by controlling the regional trade.

Besides being fishers, there were yet many traders and ships in Pataos before the war not to mention the coast. The new nation could combine the safety of Pataos as a new stronghold looking over the sea and the trade connections of the coast with the islands. Aver threw his long hood over his head and looked at the tower, it had taken some catapult rounds and needed work as he had already called for some stone workers to repair the damages. He concealed the gate with few spells and left to the town, he looked around as people began building their lives back into a more glorious form. From the ashes would rise an empire, from the ruins would rise power and Arigof could be known as the rightful ruler as Aver would truly conrol everything. So far he could keep a low profile and make suggestions, but if Arigof would become arrogant Aver could enslave his mind in someway. Aver stopped as he looked at a beggar by the street, he hmped slightly and walked to him.

"Tell me poor man why are you not working? Every man in Pataos should work and here I do not deny using extra lumber to build homes for the homeless workers...."

And future soldiers....

Bloody human....

Reyas ducked his head in the picture of meek acquiescence. He didn't give a damn about this wretched island. He would kill all the inhabitants for his pains if he could.

Kill. Vengeance.

Those words had come easily to him since the fall of his kingdom, given him an almost insane sadistic glee. Vengeance. Someday, human, I shall kill you and all the others responsible for it. It was that incentive that coerced him to tramp down his pride and quench the malign fire in his steel gray eyes. He looked up at the human - a competent mage if he'd learned anything at all - and began shuffling away.

"Where do you think you are going?"

Arev asked sharply and had few spell ready in his mind not to mention a sword ready to use.

Reyas's gray eyes flashed from the shadows of his cowl. He pointed at hiimself, then at the men mending nets by the beach.

Aver hmped not believing this mutes explenations.

"A fisherman? every fisherman is ordered to rebuild their homes except for few and you currently are going to work there or must I clarify this to you?"

Besides Aver began to feel that this man was more than just a mute, perhaps a spy.

Playing simpleton, Reyas lowered his eyes again and made an apologetic gesture with his dirty hands. Inside, he was seething with rage.

OoC.very well, same character but in rule of a barely surviving Yithare

The King sat wearily in his throne, the administration of his struggling kingdom ensured for the time being.

"You wouldn`t mind telling me why you are keeping that hood of yours up all the time mute?"

Aver asked stepping closer with a cold smile and a spell ready to get more information out of this man, Aver could be just waisting his time, but why would a beggar escape from him like that? None had done it all tough he had putten them to work, why would this one be any different and making excuses?

Kael had rode his undead steed all over Pathos and all he found was death and destruction. Yet unlike the other regions Kael explored, this region was trying to repair itself, trying to delay the inevitable. He stopped at a hill that overlooked a busy place in Pathos. He left his steed there. No one could tame Noruzad, he thought as he raised his hood to cover his pale sunked face and walked towards the site of work.

The human was cleverer than he appeared. And now Reyas was in some trouble. He felt under his rags for the dark talisman his people had given him. It would work only once. Bloody human! He shrugged his head helplessly and shuffled backwards. There would be egress out of this.

Recklessness, like vengeance, was becoming all the more familiar to him as well.

An enigmatic, sadistic smirk was all the warning the mage got before three shurikens streaked at the mage in the space of a second. Not watching to make sure they hit, he leapt nimbly back, tossing his cloak over his back and unsheathing both shortswords.

the king waited for most of the day as his army was gathered, the rest would be picked up on the way to battle.

Kael walked among the busy workers. That's it, that's it. Kael thought. Exhaust yourselves with fruitless labors. He heard a slight swissh in the air and looked up. He saw a shuriken fly towards him. He took his hand out and caught it. Well he sort of caught it. Two of the spikes was embedded in his hand. He pulled it out, wincing as he did. He didn't bother to know who threw it. For all he know, it could have been a child. But instead, he pulled out two small daggers from his robe and threw them.
