"And Caunion, what in God's name are you doing?!"Miss Kitoky scolded.
Caunion brought in his head up in a shock. All over his desk was illegible formulas and numbers. It was hard to see what was the answer and what was not.
"I finished the classwork and the homework," Caunion sheepishly replied. "So I thought I would work on my theory."
Miss Kitoky looked at Caunion as if he had just stated the meaning of life and then looked at her list of students. "Caunion......yes," she commented. Then she turned to Caunion and said, "Unfortuantely that work on the board wasn't for you. I have a seperate assignment for you." She took out a stack of papers and placed on his desk. It was filled with quadratic and cubic functions, which worked out brilliantly for him. His theory was an easier way to solve double-digit squares. "And Mr. Caunion, try to write your answers so I can read them at least. I'm going to need a magnifying glass to read that."

Haldir poked Caunion. "What is all this," she asked, gesturing at the sheet of work in front of her. "What language is this...?" She clearly did not know what math was.

"That?" Caunion inquired. It was a simple function. "It's simple. Just isolate the variable and solve for the variable. Here." He then wrote a sample problem that was similar to the one in question and worked it out. Of course in a writing that only he could read.

Haldir blinked. "I'll pretend I understood that," she said turning her paper over and staring out the window blankly.

Amoniel walked into the class and sat down next to the girl she met named, Haldir.
"Hey, what-is-up?" She said cheerfully.

Haldir turned around and brightened up. "Hello!" she nearly sang. "Don't you just hate math?" Then she generously offered Amoniel a cooky with an icing bunny on it.

SG walked into class and took an empty seat behind the girl she remembered as Amoniel, pulling out her books she found that her last pencil she had stashed in her bag was broken. She really needed to get used to this boarding school thing. SG tapped Amoniel's shoulder,
"Hey, do you happen to have an extra pencil? My last one's lead is broken."

"Sure. What color?" Amoniel took out several different colors of pencils. All No. 2 and perfectly sharpened so that the greyish silver tip was almost weapon like.

Haldir nodded in agreement, her eyes twitching. She swore loudly and stared at her own blank sheet, feeling slightly ashamed for not knowing math. "When's class over?" she asked politely.
