((Anybody else agree we need some action? And I realize this doesn't quite work as far as geography goes, but bear with me))

After flying a few hours, the still unnamed dragon-rider couldn't fail to notice that his young companion was practically falling asleep in her saddle, and that her dragon (though hardier) was lagging behind a little.

They landed in a clearing, the large black dragon snidely knocking down a few trees as though to emphasize his massivity, and Venesse dismounted a little unsteadily. She hesitated and then looked timidly at the other rider. "I do not yet know your name, or your dragon's - I have told you mine, and Bry's."

He glanced up at her and said dismissively, "In good time."

Venesse frowned. "I must insist. How am I to trust you if you will not even trust me with your name?"

"You'll trust me, little dragon rider, because I say you will, and because it would be supremely unwise of you to run away."

"Is that a threat?" Venesse demanded, stepping forward. Bryamor gave a low growl behind her. "I warn you, I do not travel with those who threaten me."

"You'll go with me because I say you will," he growled, looking up to see her jaw set stubbornly, and her hand on the hilt of her slender sword. "Ah...I see, so that's the way you're going to play it?" he said softly, and her sabre was barely out of its sheath when he whipped out his own sword, and met hers with a ringing clash in midair. Bryamor leapt for the colossal black dragon with a roar, and the pair rose into the air making a deafening commotion audible for miles.

((Note the 'audible for miles' part...

Sure enough, miles away where they were camped, the din was audible to the small group of travelers, and the first to take note of it was the elf in the tree. She had been keeping watch after the others had fallen asleep, and had started to think nothing was going to happen..until this.

Proves it is best not to assume. she thought as she practically leapt down out of the tree, depositing Lenora(who had been sleeping on her shoulder) on the ground, and quickly saddled her nervous mare. She left the waking of the others to the sounds of battle..if they didn't hear that, she would wake them eventually.

Shade looked at the Elf and asked, "What's happening?" He awoke Elendi, who growled but got up. Then, faintly but still audible, he heard that girl again that he tried to help eariler. "Hmmm..." He whispered, looking to the skies.

"I'm not sure, but I know we need to get moving again, and NOW." Aeryn stated simply, almost impatiently. Whatever was going on, it did not bode well..

Venesse barely kept up with the older, larger rider's lightning-fast sword that flickered like a silver flame almost quicker than sight. Whipping in a tight circle she caught sight of his sly little smile and reddened in anger - he was toying with her! The next second she was a fraction too slow and the blade ripped a gash in her left forearm before she could avoid it. "Will you come with me, or would you like more?" he taunted her.

In the air, Bryamor gave a roar of rage.

Elendi looked up as she heard the roar. Shade jumped on his steed and said, "It's that girl...she's in trouble again...but I think this time is a matter of life and death." Shade guessed quickly, looking at Aeryn.

"Your guess is as good as mine." Aeryn conceded, picking the sleeping Lenora up gently, and depositing her on the back of her horse, before whirling to look at the others. "Wake up you two, we have to MOVE!" she said, irritation clear in her voice.

Layna walked back to the glad from behind the trees
" I was waiting for all of you," she said indignantly as she hoped on her horse that had already been saddled.

"Holmes is a little too scientific for my tastes -- it approaches to cold-bloodedness"

Shade smirked...he hadn't learned to trust her quiet yet.

There was a thud and the sound of several trees being yanked up by the roots. Venesse gave a cry as her dragon spiraled dazedly out of the sky, narrowly avoiding crashing down to earth, but couldn't afford to do more - she was hard pressed to defend herself.

Trees fell and almost landed on the group...the ground shaking viloently. Shade's horsed whinned loudly and jumped up on his hine legs until Shade managed, barely, to get him to calm down.

Kith gazed at the stars, but his thoughts were broken by the feral roars of beasts he had not heard before. He sprung up, frightening Aasifa, who lay on top of him. Kith saddled his mare as quickly as his inexperienced hands would allow, then swung into the saddle, gripping Aasifa in his arm. The rest of the group was already moving out. Shade yelled at him, so Kith nudged the mare forward to keep up.
