The girl set her jaw angrily, but she was too wary of falling to struggle. "I'd sooner call you a horrid kidnapper! What do you mean by it?"

"Do you really think your dragon will stand to stay away? As soon as he's healed - if he recovers - he'll come after you."

Venesse went very pale. "If?" she repeated. "You can't - you can't have -" and here she broke off, too distressed to continue.

Varsael heard the noise and stood up. His white Urgal horn knife brandished, he walked towards the voices. The skulls hanging from his armor clanked.

Kith crouched, the body of the red dragon hiding him from sight. He peered above and saw an armored man brandinshing a weapon. He did not know what the man wanted, but the sull clanking on his armor suggested that it may not all be good.

Bryamor's sides heaved, and he hauled himself up with a roar of pain. His bright eyes flashed, and he looked around in panic for Venesse, and when she was not forthcoming he sank back the ground with a moan.

Shade crouched and saw Kith on the other side of the rode, but barely, for someone was blocking his view. A huge man with skulls hanging around his neck, injured. Shade notched his bow and got ready, waiting to see what the man would do next.

Kith still crouched behind the dragon. He didn't understand what the man had said. However, Aasifa was curious. She squeeked as she trotted over to meet the forein man.

" We are apparently none of the sort!" she ambled around the place of gathering and stopped suddenly in a particularly shady spot
