Gold Dusk took her hands and covered her face with them, then turned her so she was facing she same direction he was. "Now listen." He wispered in her ear.
The sound of light hoof beats was getting louder, then sudenly they stopped. "Don't be scared, and don't make any loud noises or sudden movements." He took her hands dwon from her face.
In the woods not 10 stepps from where they were stood a large pure white stag. Gold Dusk smiled, "Isn't he beautiful?" He wispered.

The White stag stepped forward, and pressed his node against Gold Dusk's outstreached hand. "Yes, That's my boy. This is Meriana... She's a good friend of mine." The white stag turned to look dwon at the girl with large dark eyes. Then he nussled against her allowing her to pet him.

"I saved him, when he was just a baby, his mother abandoned him because of his color, But now look at him."

Meriana pet the horse. he was beautiful. " that was a very kind thing you did gold dusk. my" Meriana thought for a moment. " my father and mother would have been the one to abandon me. i don't know who would have come to my rescue though.." she said choking up as she relized just how much her parents hated her.

The White stag pulled away from Meriana and disapeared into the woods.

Gold Dusk lead her to the edge of the lake and took off his tunic. He hung iit over a bush so it wouldn't get wet, then waded into the water. "It's a littel cold, but it feels wonderful." He called to Meriana. True to what they called it there was a sparkaling waterfall that splashed down the side of the mountain to land in the pool they were going to swim in.

Meriana took off the uper layer of her dress so that she was only wearing her slip. she stuck her toe in and shivered. " it is cold...maybe i don't wanna get in." she said sarcasticly, trying to see what he would do. Meriana felt something inside of her that was strange..she couldnt understand it. it felt like everytime she looked at Gold dusk her heart would melt. she felt like she was sitting on a cloud each time he touched her. she didn't know what she was feeling but she liked it. a lot.


a few days after Meriana had been gone, Maddie walked up to her mother and asked. " momma where's Meriana? did daddy ever find her?"
Mary looked at Maddie all sad. " your father said she was dead when he found her. those evil creatures in the woods killed her." Maddie gasped and covered her mouth with her hands. " no, no they couldnt have...." she said. Mary held her daughter in a tight embrace and pretended to cry. Mary knew her daughter was not dead. she knew her husband was going to find her and get revenge...but she didn't want her favorite to know or to ever know that Meriana was alive.

" She batted her long eyelashes and started laughting again. "Oh just wait till I tell the others." She said as she turned and galopped back toward the medow.
