Alex knew she had to move quickly before the commodore arrested her for the second time. Her mind raced, trying to concoct a method of escape. Once she had one, she waited and watched, contented to prepare for the opportune moment.

Emma's ear was still to the floor when she heard Sam crash. "Sam!" she gasped, forgetting to be quiet for a moment. She rushed over to her friend, "are you ok?"
Lotty's head shot around as she stared in horror at Sam. She didn't move at all, she only sat there wondering what would come next. She gave Edward a frightened look, "wa... was it as loud as I thought?" she whispered. Everything seemed to be as quiet as death in the house.

Cole froze where he was, his hand still over Alex's mouth. He shot a quick glance at her and instinctively let her go. How was he going to get out of this one? He scolded himself for not thinking this out clearer. Now he was pretty much trapped. No reason to run, really. Then the Commodore would know for sure he was guilty. He'd have to talk his way out of it? But that was more something Carmon would do, he thought. He was the one who never got in these situations in the first place. He looked quickly back at Alex, then he moved just a little closer to Norrington. "what do you mean, sir?" he had seen Carmon do it, he tried to force an innocent look on his face.
(ooo, fun!  )

Lord Beckett cut off a slice of his meat and chewed it thoughtfully. He noted Keyara's every move, even when it didn't seem like he was looking. He wondered why she had grown so silent. This is no good, he thought, the whole point was to get her to talk more, right? But Beckett, even to get her talking, simply couldn't think of anything else to say to her. Was she waiting for him to start talking? Afterall, he was the superior here, right?

Carmon bit her lower lip slightly and looked quickly over at Vari before turning back to her step-father. She hoped he had forgotten, but somehow she knew he hadn't. It would come up again. But maybe by then Vari would've thought of some other excuse.
"Carmon." his stern voice cut through her thoughts.
"Oh, Cole. Um," she picked around at the food on her plate with her fork, "I haven't seen him. Have you, Victoria?" she looked back over at Vari.

Will stopped at the grand, barred gates to the Governor’s house. A small smile crept across his face as he gazed up at it and thought about the girl of his dreams. Troubling thoughts about Norrington suddenly seemed to vanish. He fidgeted a little and fixed his clothes and brushed them off as best he could before pushing the gate open. He began walking up to the door, gathering all his courage. This would be the first time he saw her since they helped Jack escape.

Alex bolted away as soon as she felt his grip slacken. She had seriously considered elbowing him in revenge, but then had decided against it. She wouldn't offer up another pirate to the commodore. She had some standards.

Edward grimaced in fear, not only for the noise, but Sam falling. He waited a few minutes, expecting footsteps to follow afterwards, but none came… for now. He crawled over next to Sam, trying not to make the floorboards creak any more than necessary. “That looked like it hurt,” he breathed, placing a hand on her shoulder. As everything grew quiet, Edward sighed. “This is getting too dangerous,” he said, sitting next to Sam’s still form.

As Keyara took a sip of her drink, she glanced at Beckett over the rim. She too, had noticed this awkward silence between them. Should she say something? And if so, what? He was the host, wasn’t it his job to keep the conversation going? Right now she probably could have gotten more response from a wall.
Finally Keyara cleared her throat and spoke. “Perhaps it’s time for me to retire for the night. After all, it’s getting rather late and I’m sure you have a very busy day ahead of you tomorrow…” She began to stand up.

“I’m afraid I’ve not had the chance to meet Cole yet,” Vari replied meekly. She then heard the racket coming from above and quickly began coughing to try to cover it up. “Excuse me, I’m terribly sorry,” she apologized, once the noise had settled down. Vari began pushing the food around on the plate in front of her. “Um, Carmon? Would you mind showing me to the bathroom?” If they could get out of the dining room, Vari could see what had happened upstairs.

"Au" Sam whispered. She bit her lip until it almost started to bleed: her head seemed to burst with pain. She still didn't dare to move, not sure whether the noise had been heard down stairs. As Edward lay his hand on her shoulder she shivered and she finally looked up at Em: "I'm alright. You may all hit me now."

He pointed his sword at Alex' chest and said: "Don't move, or you'll regret it." He turned to Cole, his figure seemed like a statue, emotionless and still. "What do I mean?" Then James laughed, it was a terrible joyless laugh and he stopped as sudden as he started. "Don't act like a fool Applegate. You're caught in the act of cooperating with a pirate, assisting with an escape. Was it also you who got the other two out last n ight? I believe you are." The Commodore shook his head. "Disappointing"

(hehe, sorry, Pip.  but actually I did know that... I was gonna have Will get there when Lizzie wasn't home... but this works.  )
Will knocked on the door, shifted his weight and waited for a short time. It didn't take long for a elegant looking, older man to answer the door. "Good day," he said and smiled at the man. After seeing the man's gesture to enter, Will did. He quickly glanced around to see if Elizabeth was in sight. When she wasn't he turned and the doorman again, "I'm looking for Miss Swann."

Cole tried to look as innocent as possible despite his blood boiling at the word "disappointing". He assumed, however, that his innocent looks would probably only work for delicate, pretty girls like Carmon. "Sir, with all the due respect, I'm afriad you're jumping to conclusions too quickly. I don't know what you mean about the other two last night, but as far as all this goes," here he paused and directed a quick glance at Alex, "well, as far as she goes," he thought for a minute, "I'm not helping her escape." it was a small lie, sure, but what else could he say.

Emma, crouched down by Ed and Sam, tried to help her friend. "hit you? For what?" she gave her friend a puzzled look until it dawned on her. "no, we're not gonna hit you, Sam! I don't think they heard anyway... as strange as that sounds."
Lotty stayed where she was. Someone was going to have to keep an ear out while the other two helped Sam. "It's strange," she commented, "they had to hear that." she paused and listened some more. She turned back to them when she heard Edward, "but what will we do? Where can we go, Ed?"

Lord Beckett glanced up when Keyara cleared her throat. "yes, of course." he looked down at his plate. Something was nagging at him, but he couldn't quite say what. She couldn't just leave, could she? But why was he still trying to detain her? They had done and said everything they could. That was evident by the awkward silence they had just sat through. "but," he stood up as she did, "but I will see you..... tomorrow?" as soon as it was out of his mouth he wished he could take it all back. How stupid of him to ask something like that! Of course he'd see her! Why did he think he needed to anyway?

Carmon winced as a noise came from upstairs. She noticed Vari coughing and quickly "bumped" her plate and silverware onto the flow which produced a satisfying crash. Mr. Jansen glared at her. "what was that?" he completely ignored Vari's apology and everything else she said.
"I am so sorry, sir. I bumped it." Carmon pretended to be sorry as she picked up the pieces with the maid. She looked up at Vari and nodded, happy to have any excuse to leave the room. Mr Jansen sat in his chair with a suspicious, angry look on his face. These girls were hiding something. He watched them closely as they left the room and decided to follow them and have a look for himself, and then find Cole too.

Alex met the commodore's eyes evenly, her face emotionless. Her eyes flicked to Cole for a moment. She rolled her eyes. He could have at least tried to make a more believeable lie.

Edward looked into Sam’s eyes. “Are ye crazy? Why would we hurt ye for somethin’ like that?” He shook his head and let out a sigh. Looking up at Lotty, Edward frowned. “We’re going to have to do something extreme, and that’s find Cole. Either way we’re risking being caught, but we don’t have any choice as of late.” It was then that footsteps could be heard coming up the steps. “But first we need to hide! Emma, Sam - get under the bed. Lotty, closet now!” Edward whispered loudly, while grabbing Charlotte’s hand and pulling her into Cole’s closet.
Vari pulled up the bottom area of her dress and ascended the stairs as fast as possible. “Carm, hurry up mate!” She breathed, forgetting in her haste to use ‘proper’ language. Tapping the door of Cole’s bedroom thrice, Vari walked in, but stopped in the middle of the room when she realized no one was here. Where had the others gotten to? Her dark eyes scanned the area quickly before she turned back to Carmon. “Bloody… where’d they go?”

Keyara stopped for a second, taking a few minutes to look him over. She felt a slight blush creeping onto her face as she involuntarily smiled. “Of course you will,” she replied. Somehow, as stupid as Beckett had thought it sounded, Keyara found it rather sweet of him. “I had a marvelous time tonight, Cutler. Perhaps we’ll have to do this more often.” She stuck out her hand, waiting for him to shake it.

((Sorry sorry, I'll post this afternoon. First I have an economics test to tackle ))
Edit:
Sam shrugged and opened her mouth to reply to Edward's remark. Why couldn't he have come up with that before they were trapped in the big house of the wealthy creep. But then she heard the creaking of the stairs and looked in bewilderment at the others. She remained silent as she decided that their safety was somewhat more important than scolding on Edward and quickly Sam grabbed Emma's hand and threw herself beneath the four-posted bed. It smelled like dust and dirt but all those side issues were forgotten when the door opened. Quietly Sam loaded her pistol and aimed from beneath the bed at whoever was entering.
“Bloody… where’d they go?” Sam sighed with relief as she recognised the familiar voice of Vari.
"Alrighty then" Sam called out when she rolled from her hiding place, looking like a dust monster, her pistol still prepared to shoot. "Vari, I've had enough of this game. Get out these clothes.. we're leavin'.

"Of course you weren't.." Norrington replied to Cole. "You only accidentily stopped by at the Fort a few minutes after this pirate was locked up.. I know you Cole, you've always had difficulties with choosing sides. The Commodore then turned and took irons from his sadle bag. "Put her in these." he ordered and after a short moment of hesitation he took another set of irons "The word of a man marks his deeds." he glanced at Cole. "You're word can't be trusted.." _________________

Elizabeth rushed down the stairs, quietly cursing whoever had invented such uncomfortable dresses for ladies. "Will!" she said excitedly, barely restraining herself from leaping into his arms. "It's so good to see you!"

Cole didn't dare to look over at Alex, actually he didn't dare to look at anyone. Not even Norrington. He glanced back and forth and tried to hold a firm face to prove he was telling the truth, but it didn't come naturally for him. He tried to think of something to say in his defense. "But Commodore, sir, I was telling the truth. You know I would never help a pirate." he finally decided to quickly glance over at Alex. When he looked back, he was shocked to see Norrington removing two pairs of irons from his saddle bag. His thoughts escaped him and he turned a shade paler. There was no way he could be shackled like a, like a pirate. If his step-father found out about it there would be the devil to pay and maybe even worse. "I assure you, Commodore, you can trust my word. You always have." he wasn't pleading, it was just the next thing to a plead.

Emma was caught in a whirl of confusion. Everyone scattering everywhere all at once. Even as she heard Edward's voice and the words began to register in her mind, she was swept under the bed by Sam. "Wha...?" but that was all that escaped her for at that very moment she heard the footsteps.
Lotty didn't argue, she rushed into Cole's closet and remained silent. Even her breath seemed to make too much noise. She tried to calm herself, but she found she couldn't. Her heart raced and she wondered if they would be caught. She was fingering for her pistol when she heard the door open and she heard Vari's voice.

Carmon wasted no time in following Vari at as quick pace as was possible considering the corset and bulky gown. By the time they were at Cole's door she was breathing hard, gasping for breath and just about ready to rip the stupid corset off. Carmon's thoughts were elsewhere as she followed Vari into the room so that when the other woman stopped she almost collided into the back of her. "what's wro..." she blinked. The room was empty. She glanced around, there was nothing, wait, she noticed movement under the bed and before long one of the pirates emerged.

Beckett watched Keyara closely. She had a strange way of saying things, or at least to him it seemed like she did. The way she said things made... he shut off the stupid thoughts again. He needed her to leave, things weren't right with her there. He suddenly wished he would never see her again. Ever. And why was she calling him 'Cutler' all of a sudden? What gave her the right? Why didn't he stop her? Most of all why was he asking himself the same questions over and over? "Perhaps." was the only thing he said in response although inside he hoped it would never happen again. It had started out as planned but somewhere things had gone dreadfully wrong in Beckett's plans. He reached out and took her hand and quickly shook it and said, "good evening, Ms. Pierce."

Will could hear footsteps above and a few moments later Elizabeth appeared. A broad smile crossed his face and he walked over to her. "Elizabeth." was the only thing he could get out and he smiled down at her, unsure of what to do. Should he hug her? Or kiss her? Or neither?
(remember Will and Lizzie pretty much had no physical contact between CotBP and DMC. Dorky Will at it again!)

Alex shifted her glare from Cole to the commodore, her dark eyes filled with steely deterimation and mild distaste. She took a small step back upon seeing the shackles.
