"Relax, I'm one of the good guys." Fox said, looking at Mr. Beaver.

"Well, you look mighty like one of the bad ones!" he said angrily.

"An unfortunate family resemblence, I'm afraid, but we can discuss breeding later." Fox said. "Right now, we need to move."

"What do you suggest?" Peter asked warily, and the Fox smirked and looked upwards at the massive tree they were standing under.

Evelyn looked up at the tree, and found herself hanging onto the bark a few minutes later while the others climbed up. She watched anxiously as the wolves arrived.

Fox was wiping away all traces of footsteps as the wolves came up, and he looked up once finished. "Evening gents, lost something, have we?" he asked them calmly, and Maugrim snarled.

"Don't patronize me, I know where your allegiance lies. We are looking for some Humans."

"Humans in Narnia? That's a right valuable piece of information, isn't it?" Fox asked coolly, and one of the wolves suddenly grabbed him, and he yelped.

"Where are they?!" Maugrim snarled angrily, and Fox whimpered softly before lowering his head.

"North...they went North.." he said, sounding ashamed of himself.

"Quickly, smell them out!" Maugrim growled at the other wolves who moved off quickly, and the wolf holding Fox threw him aside, and the wolves all left.

Evelyn gasped as the wolf grabbed the fox. She watched as he cleverly lied about their whereabouts. As soon as the wolves were out of sight, she made to jump down from the branches to help him.

Peter watched Evelyn tentatively for a moment, then he started to climb down the tree, helping Lucy down in the process.

"Are you alright?" she asked the fox, kneeling beside him in the snow as he got up.

Fox raised his head slightly, and winced in the process. "I wish I could say that their bark isn't worse than their bite.." he replied ruefully.

Evelyn smiled, and offered to patch it up for him with Mrs. Beaver when they could.

"All right, but I can't stay long..I've got things to take care of." Fox replied.

Evelyn smiled. "I'm sure you do," she said. She looked at the others. "Let's get out of here...go somewhere where we can build a fire or something."

Peter and Lucy both nodded in agreement, and Fox forced himself to stand. "Come on, I know a good place a short ways from here.."

Evelyn followed him, eyeing him to make sure he didn't overexert himself. When he indicated the spot, she immediately sat down and said, "Now for that wound of yours."

"Very well, very well.." Fox said, shaking his head slightly as he took up a spot next to the place where wood had been prepared for a fire.

Evelyn helped Mrs. Beaver attend to him, and though she tried to be as gentle as possible, he did prove to be a little squirmy. "Mr. Fox," she said in a calm voice, "I hate to say this, and I'm trying to help you and all, but will you <i>stop squirming</i>!" she said, her eyes going comically wide.

"Honestly, he's worse than Beaver on bath day!" said Mrs. Beaver.

"Worst day of the year," said Beaver to the other humans.
