Aeryn wasn't going to leave her in the dust. He reared Snoweyes to a halt, with the horses' dislike, and then took his bow and fired past the commotion and hit a few demons. "I won't leave you!" He said, stubborn-headed.

"You idiot! Run!" screeched Nakaida. She could feel the energy it took to maintain such a large disturbance draining. "All of you, go!"

"I am a idiot, and so are you!" Aeryn said and shot a demon coming up beside Nakaida.

(This will be my last post for a few days.)

Naidele growled in frustration at their plight. She pulled her horse in front of Aeryn's, beside Nakaida's. "Go!" she shouted at Aeryn, "We can handle this." She wasn't sure if that was true, but she knew that they with their powers stood a better chance against the half-demons than their companions who didn't have powers. Naidele stuck both her arms straight out and balls of flame began to shoot from her palms. Her fire mixed with Nakaida's whirlwind was slowly but surely driving their assailants back. She turned to Nakaida. "We need to get out of here quick."

Nakaida did not reply, only nodded . She was pale under her tanned skin, and the whirlwind was failing a little, allowing the demons to inch forward. Naidele's fire was helping, but it did not seem to affect them as it might other creatures.

((We're in a canyon at a dead end with demons chasing us. Nakaida made a whirlwind to hold them off and Naidele is using fire, and they're telling the other three to run))

((Alright... Ok. Thanks, Meldawen! :D ))

Khienro ran to the canyon wall, and began climbing the lowest part he could find, which wasn't all that steep, and did his best to go as fast as he could. He then grabbed a ledge that was more of a dried dirt of sorts, not rock, and was whipped around with his back to the canyon wall, twisting his right wrist badly. Then, as the air left his lungs and his back hit the rock, his ears were filled with the loud cracking that came from his contorted wrist. With a loud cry, he fell down the wall, from the twenty foot hight that he had reached. Cradling his aching arm, he looked up to see Naikada and Naidele fighting the demons. Then he realized that they were getting closer.

"Oh for the love of..." He couldn't finish however, for the ledge that he had gripped earlier, only to fall, broke off of the canyon wall and came tumbling down. He rolled out of the way, startling Sparksburn.

"NAIDELE! NAIKADA! WE HAVE TO LEAVE! AND DON'T THINK WE'RE ABOUT TO ABANDON YOU!" He yelled over the whirling of fire and air, also the cold, sharp shreiks of the demons. Khienro then put his swelling wrist and hand into his pocked, wishing to keep it out of the way.

"Nakaida, Khienro's right," Naidele said as she gently grabbed her sisters arm, "We shouldn't use up all our strength now. We still have much to fight."

[I think they should get captured here]

The demons shrieked in more rage than pain at the Keepers' formidable efforts. They swerved to the side, breaking away from the whirlwind. Fireballs smote them full, and the stench of charred flesh stung the air.

Orindil stuck his arrowhead into the fire and sighted their enemies down on his flaming arrow. His arrow impaled the nearest demon in the chest.

Delayed but hardly defeated, half the demons fanned out around them while the other half attacked from the air. Orindil gasped as a bolt of chilling cold raced down his arm, courtesy of lethal talons raking across his shoulder.

The whirlwind sputtered, barely held by Nakaida's last-ditch efforts, and after a few seconds died altogether, freeing its last few victims.

Nakaida herself stumbled back, saved from falling only by the solid body of the horse behind her. She clutched it, her head spinning and her vision blurring in and out of focus. Dimly aware of a demon spiraling down towards her, out of habit Nakaida flung out a hand - but only the barest breath of air was forthcoming.

Swallowing panic and barely able to stand unassisted, she drew her dagger - pathetic as it was against such a formidable foe - and lashed out ineffectively. The demon made a cackling sound that could possibly have resembled a laugh.

Khienro reached out for his axe with his good arm, but the act quickly proved in vain as a demon came down only to snatch it out of his grasp, with a sharp, mocking cackle. Khienro looked down to see a small line of blood trickle down his arm. It wasn't big, but it was deep.

"Why that nasty little devil!" He whispered harshly, he grabbed the strap that had held his pack to Sparksburn and securely tied it around the offending wound, however painful it was with his now purple broken wrist, along with his teeth. He looked around hopelessly, wishing some open escape way to somehow come into being on his command, but to no avail. He wresteled his way over to a small outcroping, and sat, hoping that he could wait this out. He couldn't use a bow, his axe had been stolen, and heaven knew where his sword had gone. He then looked down at Naidele and.... where was Naikada? Oh no.... He closed his eyes as a tear fell. I've failed them already...

Naidele looked over and saw Nakaida being attacked. "No!" she screamed and ran towards her sister and the demon. She had already lost her other sisters. She wasn't going to lose Nakaida without a fight. But even as she made her way to the demon attacking her, Naidele knew that she wouldn't be able to fight it off with fire. She could only use her power so much and then she was out of strength. She drew her dagger also and brought it up to slash the demon's face. But she didn't see the other demon behind her. Something hit her in the back of the head, and she fell backwards. She could barely hold her eyes open, and when she lifted her hand to her head, she felt blood on her fingers.

(I guess they could get captured here.)

For a reason he couldn't fathom, the mere sight of the revolting creature swooping at Nakaida filled Orindil with feral rage. He leaped in front of her, thrusting an arrow into the demon's ugly face. It shrieked and effortlessly tossed him aside.

"Keepers... Keepers..." Shrill, inhuman laughter echoed up and down the canyon.

Then Orindil's world went black.

[more convenient if we knock them all out :P]

((Lol, sure))

Nakaida crumpled like a doll as a demon's talons raked down her arm, her dagger clattering uselessly to the rocks, and before her vision darkened altogether she thought dimly - we were not prepared. And now we've failed...

Khienro's world seemed to slow down as he saw the demon slam itself into the back of Naidele's head.

"Naidele!" Without knowing what he was doing, Khienro found himself by Naidele, of course, there wasn't much he could do, but it was as if his mind couldn't register that. Taking the dagger out of Naidele's limp fingers, he lunged at the shadowy creatures, and then turned around just in time to see one of the larger ones hovering over Naiele's body,

"Oh don't you even think about it..." he then planted his good fist into the creature's side, sending it a good five feet, reasonably confused, he then knealt over Naidele, having at least distracted the demons for some time.

"Naidele, please, come on.... Wake up.... I can't leave you here... not after promising to protect you..." He put his hand to her cheek, and then to her neck, checking her pulse. She was alive, but probably wouldn't be for long with the foes that surrounded them. Just as he was about to turn around, Khienro's head began ringing as a large, blunt object was slammed into his head. Just before his vision faded, Khienro was able to see a cackling demon, coupled with the sensation of blood trickling down his neck.
