"Good, then," said Chanel. "Because you know, I learned an amazing hex over the summer and I've been itching for someone to practice on - and I'm sure you'd rather it wasn't you!" She winked to indicate she was kidding - her hexes were deadly, a fact at odds with her tiny frame.

"Oh?" asked Allison delicately. "You'd hex me?"

This, of course, was asked in jest: she knew Chanel had been kidding.

"Oh dear Allison, you haven't learned anything from last year when that horrible snotty Ravenclaw boy asked me out?" Chanel replied innocently. "I wonder if he's recovered yet..." she added thoughtfully, with a touch of guilt.

"Oh, him." Allison said dismissively. "I take that answer as a yes, then. Aidan, remind me never to get on her bad side."

Aidan, who had ignored the conversation up until now, glanced up with a slight frown.

"He's just thinking about someone, that's all." stated Allison simply, before he could say anything. And this, in turn, earned her a glare, and she merely smiled in return.

A solitary tall dark-haired boy found himself an empty compartment and stretched out his long gangly legs, setting his owl's cage on the floor. "Absolute mayhem," he muttered.

"Well, I'll leave you girls to your chatting." Aidan said abruptly, retrieving his luggage and his owl's cage from the overhead racks. Pushing open the compartment door, he left, closing it behind him with a prompt 'snap'. It took him several moments to forge a way through the milling students, but once he did, he slipped into an empty compartment, breathing a quiet sigh of relief after closing the door.

"If he did, I know nothing about it." Allison shrugged, pushing her glasses farther up on the bridge of her nose. "But then again, he's a Slytherin..he gets in moods like that a lot.."

"Moody lot, them," commented Chanel. "I swear, if I'd been put in Slytherin I'd have gone straight back home - what a drag! And their Quidditch team is absolute rubbish." She aded this as though that made it perfectly clear the nobody should ever want to be in Slytherin.

"Easy there." Allison said, tone warning. "They aren't all rubbish Quidditch players..'specially not Aidan, loth as I am to admit that. How'd you think I learned to play in the first place?"

Her sisterly side was coming on strong..different as she and her brother were, they always stuck up for one another. Even when it came to defending them against one's own friends.
