Peter nodded a little, then shifted slightly and winced.

Felicity nodded, then reached for the other water pitcher and a glass, then filled it and moved over to the bedside, then held it out.

"Careful," she whispered gently. She then looked down and began to roll her sleeves up.


Ed sat up, then reached for it, holding the cool liquid up to his lips.

Peter opened his eyes and looked at her.

Felicity watched him for a moment, then as an excuse, went back over to the bedside table and dampened the cloth again, and wrung it out.

Ev didn't immediately notice, and finished pulling her sleeves up. She then glanced over at him and noticed his eyes open. She smiled gently. "You should really try to get some rest," she said softly.

"That's nearly impossible.." Peter said quietly, shifting restlessly, then suddenly breathed in sharply.

Ev winced in sympathy, then put her hand on his shoulder and said, "Stay still." She went around to his left side, for she had been sitting at his right, and said, "I'm going to have to check your ribs...they seem to be bothering you a lot..."

Peter nodded mutely and moved his hand from his side.

Ev's face burned as she moved his shirt up and felt his ribs....she felt a few fractures and swore mentally. Feeling like her face was the sun itself, she rose and said, "Yeah, it's what I thought...you have about two fractures."

"Wonderful.." Peter muttered, before looking at Evelyn.

Ev smiled gently, then said, "I'll take care of it, don't worry." She then sat down beside him again and said, "For now, you're going to have to try to stop moving...I'll see what I can do about the pain so you can get some sleep....you need it."


Ed put down his cup and lay back again. "That helped.." he said, wanting to laugh, but didn't, for fear of a coughing fit.

Peter nodded slightly. "Agreed.." he said, before yawning carefully and closing his eyes.

"Good." Felicity said with a slight smile, looking over her shoulder at him. "Is there anything else you need?"

Ev nodded and looked down, trying to think. <i>Pain, pain, pain...what could she do for pain?</i> She got up and started toward the door, then stopped and looked back at Peter. She walked back and put a hand on his shoulder, then whispered, "I'll be right back." She then turned and walked toward the door.

"All right.." Peter said softly, trying to get to sleep as she left.

Ev sighed as she left, then walked down the hall to Ed's room. She knocked. "Lici?" she asked.

Felicity jumped slightly, then went to the door and opened it. "Yes?"

"Listen, do you have some of that herb that takes away pain?" she asked, "I forget the name of it."
