As Rosalina fell asleep again, Darius just let his mind wander to the events that happened within the past few days, events that he would rather not be forced to live through again.

Watching Calista sink into a peaceful sleep, Gareth just smiled slightly for the briefest of moments before a frown crossed his face as he thought back on the bite wound. Lifting her left arm gently, he unwrapped the bloodstained cloth before re-examining the wound. Sighing sadly that little healing had taken place, Gareth went to his room to get a herb that would hopefully speed the healing and a clean cloth bandage. Squeezing the juice of the herb onto the wound, he tenderly rubbed the juice of the plant into the bite causing Calista to moan in softly in pain. Pausing in his ministrations then, Gareth waited until she fell silent again before continuing to dress her wound. Once finished, he wrapped the deep bite wound in the clean cloth bandage before gently laying her arm back under the blanket and pressing a light kiss to her forehead.

Lying beside her, Darius kissed Rosalina's cheek before pulling her into his arms and finally fell asleep.

Hearing Calista moan softly again after a few minutes, Gareth rose from the chair and lying down beside her, gently took the woman into his arms. "I'm here, Rose," he whispered to her. Sighing softly as she recognized Gareth's scent, a small smile crossed Calista's lips as she snuggled against the mage and sank back into a peaceful sleep. Smiling as she fell back asleep, Gareth placed a light kiss on her brow, hoping that her fever would break.

As the sun's rays filled the room the next morning, Darius groaned softly as the light slid under his eyes, awaking him. Yawning as he slowly sat up, Darius glanced over to check on Rosalina who lay at his side.

Awakening to the sound of Calista coughing, Gareth groaned as he slowly opened his eyes. The mage was not sure when he had fallen asleep. He had tried to stay awake as long as possible to monitor her condition, but eventually sleep had claimed him as well. Placing his hand lightly across her forehead, Gareth could only grit his teeth in frustration and worry. Her fever had risen sometime during the night and her skin was warmer than before. Quickly climbing out of bed, he quickly began to prepare another herbal drink for Calista.

Rosalina stirred. She opened her eyes, and had to close them again. The light was too bright. then she sat up realiseing what she had thought. She looked at the room, away from the window, it remanided dark, but a bit lighter. She turned to the window, and the light filled her vision hurting her eyes. "I can't belive it."

"What Ro?" Darius asked her, puzzlement in his eyes. "Can't believe what, love?" he asked again as he studied her curiously.

Once he finished preparing the herbal broth, Gareth walked over to the bed and gently shook Calista to rouse her. Moaning softly, Calista's lashes slowly fluttered open and she stared up at Gareth with dull blue eyes. "Love, you need to drink this," Gareth whispered to her. "And this time please don't argue with me," he added. Nodding, Calista slowly sat up, her body feeling more tired than before. As Gareth handed her the broth, she managed to drink it with much difficulty---her coughing nearly causing her to choke more than once.

"Umm, sure," Darius remarked as he climbed out of the bed. Finding a candle he quickly lit it and put it in another corner of the room. "Okay, ready whenever you are," he called out.

Taking the cup from Calista as she finished the broth, Gareth set it aside as she lay down on the bed again. "You are going to just have to stay in bed at least for a few days," Gareth told gently.
"But all the chores!" Calista protested hoarsely. "And I still need to make meals for everyone," she added.
"Rose, you need to take care of your health first!" Gareth chided her much more sharply than he intended, worry in his eyes. "Your fever is already worse this morning. If you keep pushing yourself, complications could develop. And I could not bear to see that happen to you..." he whispered, his voice breaking with his emotions.

Rosalina scanned the room, then she saw it. the light wasn't as bright as the window and sun, but she saw it like an orb. Getting up she took carefull steps as she went to the light smiling the whole way.

Watching Rosalina walk toward him, a slow smile spread across Darius' face. "You can see?" he asked her, his eyes brightening with happiness.

Turning away from Gareth as she coughed, Calista just pulled the blanket around her all the tighter.
"I couldn't ask Rosalina or Darius to cook. And everyone still needs to eat," Calista remarked hoarsely, her nasal passages congested. Turning to look up at Gareth, the young woman tried to get out of bed despite the achiness that had spread to all of her limbs. Sighing, the mage only gently pushed her back down on the bed.
"Did you not understand a word I just said?" he asked her. "Or are you trying to tempt fate?" he added, growing more exasperated with her by the minute.

"So you are getting your sight back!" Darius exclaimed, joy in his voice. "Can you see anything else?"

"Gareth..." Calista whispered weakly in protest, her throat dry and raw.
"You need to rest," Gareth told her sternly. "Let me worry about the meal details," he added as Calista coughed again.
"You...you shouldn't have to," Calista whispered, trying to get up again, although the mage stopped her.

Giving Rosalina a small smile although he figured that she could not see it, Darius stepped closer to the woman. Once he was only mere inches in front of her, he pulled her closer to him and lowering his face to hers, kissed her gently on the lips.

Semi-exhausted from the battle of wills with Gareth, Calista just lay back on the bed and did not try to rise again. Reaching out, Gareth gently laid his hand on Calista's forehead again and just shook his head with a sigh. "Stay here," he told her sternly as he disappeared from the room for a brief moment. Not even bothering to respond, Calista just closed her eyes as she drew in a ragged breath before coughing again. Coming back into the room, Gareth brought in several buckets of fresh water and a cloth. After dipping the cloth into one of the buckets, Gareth walked over to the bed and gently laid the rag on the woman's forehead to help cool her. Why didn't you let me help you earlier? Gareth thought to himself as he kept his eyes upon Calista, the worry never leaving his eyes.
