Chuckling at Rosalina's comment, Darius could only smirk. "Cooking was never my strong suit," he added with another light chuckle. "And yes, Calista did cook---which is a probably a good thing for you my love," he added with another warm smile before planting a light kiss to the top of her head.

Getting out three more dishes and decanters, Calista put deer, bread, vegetables and fruits on a plates for Darius, Gareth and her father. Next she poured each a cup of water sweetened with honey. Frowning that Calista was not going to eat anything, Gareth was about to make a comment when Calista merely shook her head. "I'm not hungry," she whispered.
"I'll make you some broth afterwards," Gareth whispered in her ear. "It's light and it will at least help you keep up your strength. Now my dear, you need to rest. I can take the meals to everyone."
Nodding, Calista turned to walk to her room when a sudden weakness overcame her and she staggered on her feet. At her side at once, Gareth gently scooped her up into his arms and carried her back to her room as she closed her eyes and rested her head against his shoulder. Tenderly lying her down on the bed, he lightly brushed his fingers along her forehead before kissing her brow. Once he was certain she was resting peacefully, he grabbed a dish and glass and headed toward the guestroom.
Rising as he saw the mage, Darius took the cup and plate from Gareth and gave him a small smile. "Thanks," he said finally. "How's Calista?"
"She's resting right now," he remarked though the worry did not leave his hazel green eyes.

Rosalina had failed to find the utensils when she heard Darius's coment. "Is she ok?" she asked, worry in her voice.

Hearing her question, Darius set his food and utensils on the table before walking over to Rosalina. Taking her hand, he gently placed it over the utensils he had set off to the side. "She has a bad cold. But with rest, she should be fine," Darius told Rosalina gently before placing a kiss on the top of her forehead. "Do not worry too much," he added softly, loving the woman for her gentle heart but not wanting her to suffer from additional stress.
Leaving the two to talk, Gareth walked back to the kitchen and grabbed Daniel's meal before going to the find Calista's father in his room.

Darius pressed his lips together at Rosalina's words and remained silent for a moment as he decided how to answer them. "Two herbs were needed to help you recover from your severe cold. To hopefully expedite things, she went after one herb and Gareth the other. Unfortunately a blizzard came without warning and she ended up being trapped in it for a time," Darius remarked quietly. "Gareth is tending to her now," he remarked softly. "This isn't your fault," Darius stated after a moment. "The storm was beyond anyone's control---including the mage's powers even if he wished it otherwise. You just need to rest and keep up your strength," he added gently.

Knocking at the door, Gareth handed Daniel his meal when the man answered the door.
"How is my daughter?" he questioned worry in his eyes.
"Ill," Gareth remarked quietly. "And yet she still insisted on making everyone food---since between all of us with sight she is probably the best cook," Gareth remarked.
Daniel merely shook his head and sighed. "She should be resting. We can all go without a meal for a day or two."
"That is what I tried telling her, but she was adamant," Gareth remarked with a sigh. "However she is resting now and I am going back to the room to check on her," Gareth added.
Nodding, Daniel gave the mage a small smile. "Just take care of her," he whispered. Nodding once more, Gareth took his leave from Daniel.

As she lay in bed, Calista's temperature continued to rise steadily. Coughing again, flecks of yellow phlegm dotted the bed sheets as a soft moan escaped from her lips. Head lolling from side to side, Calista's eyes slowly fluttered open and she glanced around the room for Gareth with glassy blue eyes. She was now running a high fever and her cooking for everyone only managed to exacerbate her condition. Forcing herself into a sitting position, she flopped back on the bed a second later with a quiet plop as her blue eyes rolled back and the muscles in her arms, legs and body began to twist and jerk in violent convulsions. Foam coming at the corner of her mouth, Calista had no knowledge of what was going on with her as her mind slipped into unconsciousness.

Biting his lip at Rosalina's words, Darius reached out and gently put his hand on her shoulder. "We can't undo the past, Ro," he whispered. "I wish you didn't get sick either, love, but it happened. Now you just have to focus on getting well," he added softly as he pressed a kiss to her temple.

Breathing becoming shallow, Calista's body continued to convulse as she thrashed wildly on the bed.

Walking into Calista's room, Gareth felt his heart drop as he beheld Calista caught in the throes of a seizure. "Rose!" he yelled in horror as he rushed to the woman's side. "Love, can you hear me?" he asked, his heart clenching all the more at the sight of her violent tremors, rolled back eyes and the foam coming from her lips. Yet what terrified him all the more was the woman's shallow breathing. "Rose!" he screamed again as he placed his hand on her clammy forehead as she continued to shake violently without pause. "Heaven help her," he prayed, realizing at once that in just a short time her temperature had soared drastically.

"You don't cause much trouble, Ro," Darius remarked softly. "Sometimes misfortune just occurs and no one is to blame," he added softly.

"Rose!" Gareth continued to call desperately out to Calista, though she gave no sign that she heard him as she continued to convulse. As she continued to shake, her breathing grew more and more shallow until she ceased to breathe. "Calista, love!" Gareth yelled as he placed his face mere inches from hers. "Breathe, dearest," he begged softly, his heart nearly stopping in his chest. "Please!" he cried, growing more and more frantic by the minute.

Darius frowned as he raised his head and looked around. "I don't know," he said softly. "But it sounds like Gareth," he muttered. "Something is wrong," he added more to himself as he started to key in on the words and tone of voice with his sharp senses.

"Calista, my love, breathe!" Gareth shouted again as her skin started to turn blue. "Please," he shouted as a cold fear began to creep into his heart. In all the years he had known Calista he did not remember her falling this ill and he took it for granted that her ability to heal herself would shield her against such illnesses. Now it seemed that sickness finally claimed her, the effects were so much worse and he did not know how to help her. Turning her on her side in the the hopes that would clear her airway, all Gareth could do was pray for a miracle.

"All right," Darius remarked. "Take it easy and enjoy your meal until I return," he said softly before kissing her cheek lightly.

"Come back to me, Rose," Gareth whispered to Calista, his eyes misting with tears. Please don't let her die, Gareth prayed silently, at a lost of what to do.

Walking silently into the room, Darius froze at the sight. "By heaven what is going on?" he asked.
"She's having a seizure," Gareth whispered as he turned to face Darius, slightly started by the man's entrance. He had been so concerned over Calista that he did not even hear him enter the room. "I don't know what to do..." Gareth added his voice tight with worry.
"There is nothing you can do," Darius remarked softly, compassion in his voice as he stepped further into the room and placed a hand on the mage's shoulder. "You will just have to wait it out."

"What?!" Gareth exclaimed, hardly pleased at Darius' words. "Are you mad? She could die of asphyxiation at this rate!" he practically yelled, the blue tint on her skin causing his heart to race with fear.
"I know it looks grim, but most seizures do not last long," Darius added trying to be as encouraging as possible as he wet a rag and handed it to the mage. "The most you can do to help her is try to apply cool cloths to her forehead and neck. Keep her on her side or on her stomach to see if that will dislodge what secretions maybe in throat so she can breathe. The worst thing you can do is try to put something in her mouth, it will just cause her to choke," he added.
"How do you know this?" Gareth asked a bit surprised and he gently ran the cloth over her forehead and then her neck.
"Rosalina suffered these seizures as a child. Normally they tend to affect children more, but that does not make adults immune to them," Darius added quietly. "I was terrified too. But try to relax, Calista will be fine. When the seizure passes expect her to be a bit disoriented and extremely drowsy. It will be best if you just let her rest and monitor her fever to make sure it does not become any worse," he added.
After several more minutes passed, her contractions slowly started to cease and she fell into rhythmic jerkings as she slowly started to draw in weak breaths.
"Will you be all right?" Darius asked Gareth, noting that Calista's seizure was breaking. Lifting Calista into his arms, the mage merely nodded.
"I need to check up on Ro," he added as he squeezed the mage's shoulder one final time turning to leave the room.
"Darius-wait," Gareth called. "Thank you," he told him. Nodding, Darius gave Gareth a small smile in acknowledgment before taking his leave.
Once Darius left, Gareth turned his full attention to the woman that now lay limp and unresponsive in his arms.

Walking back into Rosalina's room, Darius merely sighed as he sat down in a chair next to his lady love.
