Drawing in a sharp breath, Calista could only nod a response to Rosalina as another strong pulse of pain hit her. Closing her eyes a wave of nausea enveloped her senses, she had a need to vomit but her stomach had nothing to heave out. She was trying to deepen her breathing but each sharp contraction made it hard to draw in a deep breath so her breathing continued to come in small gasps.
After laying Calista gently down on the bed and pressing a kiss to her damp forehead, Gareth rose and immediately started to search for a rag or cloth that he could warm over a fire. A sorrow glimmered in his eyes at the pain that was written over his love's face and he was unable to take comfort in the fact that it wasn't dangerous.
"What's wrong with my daughter?" Daniel asked Rosalina, relieved that it was not life-threatening but still hating to see her in pain nonetheless.

"Muscle spasms. I've seen them before, but never as bad as this." She looked at Darius. "Remember Thomas?" she said and looked at the other men. "He works for my father. He suffered an injury once, don't remember what. but he would have spasms. I asked him about them once. He told me about them, and how he dealt with them." She reached her hand and started to rub Calista's stomach. "He would have the mucsles rubbed, massaged, by his wife. And he would excersise to keep the mucsles relaxed."

"So can they just suddenly occur for no reason and is there anything that can be done to prevent them?" Daniel asked Rosalina as the woman began to massage Calista's stomach. Darius nodded when she asked if he remembered Thomas. "I am certainly pleased you took the time to ask," Darius remarked to Rosalina with a slight smirk as he wrapped his arms around her waist, "Since I didn't."
Sighing softly, Calista felt the contractions ease some, though they were still painful. Her cries slowly quieted although grimaces of pain would flash over her face every now and then.
Finally finding a suitable cloth, Gareth quickly warmed it over a fire. Once finished he walked over with cloth in hand to Calista's bedside.

"If calista feels small spasms, to relax the mucsle and to massage it. or to have a warm cloth." she then told Gareth to put it on calista's stomach while she removed her hand. "But excersise also helps. Not too much, but maybe we can figure some stuff you can do." she said this last part to Calista.

After Rosalina moved her hand away, Gareth laid the warm cloth on Calista's stomach before lightly caressing her face with the back of his fingers, wondering if this could have been the result of the cold since she never had such issues before. "Understood," Gareth remarked to Rosalina as she instructed them how to help the woman with her spasms.
Finally able to draw a deep breath as the warm cloth was placed on her abdomen, Calista just closed her eyes for a brief moment. The warmth emanating from the rag helped ease the spasms in her intestinal wall until they finally faded all together. Opening her eyes as Rosalina spoke of exercise, Calista nodded. "Of course," she remarked softly. "I think I will try just about anything to avoid these pains again," she whispered. "Thank you for your help," she added after a moment, a weak smile on her lips.

Rosalina smiled back. "If your wondering the cause, there isn't just one. Sometimes its nerve damage, others, mucsle damage. But I think its the nerves this time."

"So are you saying this is permanent?" Gareth asked Rosalina, praying that it wouldn't be. After seeing Calista writhe in such agony---even for a short duration---he did not want to have to witness her go through that again.
"So could this nerve damage be from her cold?" Daniel asked next.
Meanwhile as Gareth and Daniel questioned Rosalina, Calista just lay silently on the bed as if to absorb everything that was being said around her, still feeling weak from her illness.

"I honestly don't know. I do know that Thomas would have the rare spasms that were painful once in a while, but if he was too tired or stiff, he would have frequent minor spasms. As long as calista does I suggest she shouldn't have problems. But it may take a while to get to that point."

"Which means that her spasms will be painful for awhile then?" Daniel asked not looking at all pleased at the thought of his daughter suffering so.
As he sat down at the edge of her bed, Gareth could only pray that this was not going to be permanent. He did not have much experience with dealing with spasms and he only prayed that these things would not get any worse. "So was what she experienced the worse that can happen from a spasm?" Gareth asked, wanting to be sure that he would be able to recognize the worst of the warning signs---while hoping that it did not come to that. Taking Calista's hand in his, Gareth gave her a small smile. He could tell that she was still feeling weak and her spasms seemed to have left her utterly drained. "Just rest, dearest," he whispered to her before leaning forward to press a gentle kiss to her forehead.

Rosalina bit her lip. "I am sure." she said, she could not see how they could get worse, and Thomas said they could get pretty painful. "Maybe, for now, breathing exsersises, and heat. that would be for the stomach, and I think the other one we saw before was a back spasm, so maybe, Calista, When you feel a bit better, Gareth should massage you back incase it spasms again. I don't know if any more will happen, but if it does, we should note what part of the body."

"All right," Calista remarked a bit wearily. "I hope I don't get any more though. I hate having everyone do extra work because of me."
"Don't worry about it, Rose. You need to rest," Gareth whispered.
"But I feel terrible for all the extra chores you have had to do because of me," Calista whispered to Gareth.
"Love, I don't mind. Right now, you just need to heal."
Giving Gareth a weak smile she took his hand and gave it a gentle squeeze. "Thank you," she whispered to him. Turning to Rosalina and Darius then, she gave the couple a warm smile. "Thank you both," she whispered to them.
"Don't thank me," Darius remarked. "Rosalina is the more knowledgeable of the two of us." Turning to Rosalina then, he gently squeezed her waist. "I didn't know you knew so much about muscle spasms. Looks as if Thomas told you quite a bit."

Calista gave Rosalina a weak smile as she gazed up at her from the bed. "Well, I am glad that you did," she whispered.
"As am I," Gareth added. Turning back to Calista then, he gently caressed her cheek. "You need to rest, Rose," he whispered. "And I should probably gather a few more herbs in case they are needed to treat your illness."
"But Gareth---you are exhausted yourself!" Calista exclaimed though her protest sounded hollow due to her raspy voice.
Sighing as he listened to the couple, Darius merely shook his head. The mage and his woman were so in love with in each other that they probably were not thinking straight. But then again he was one to talk since his love for Rosalina blinded him to all else.

"Don't fret, my dear Rose. Just rest, you need to keep up your strength," Gareth whispered to Calista before pressing a light kiss to her brow.
"But how can I not worry when you push yourself too far? Please, my love. Do not concern yourself over the herbs. You need to rest as much as I do," Calista entreated.
"And what happens if you suddenly get worse? I am not going to take a chance with your life," Gareth replied back.
"And I won't have you pushing yourself so on my account," Calista remarked stubbornly although her voice was weak.
"All right, enough you two," Darius remarked breaking into the mini lovers spat. "Gareth, stay here and rest. If you do not, I swear your woman will end up giving herself a heart attack."
"I need to gather more herbs..." Gareth protested.
"I will gather the herbs," Darius remarked. "What Calista needs right now is to have you beside her."
Glancing down at Calista, Gareth could see the truth of Darius' words shining in her captivating blue eyes as she gazed up at him in entreaty.
"All right," Gareth finally conceded much to Calista's relief. "Thank you," he told Darius finally. Nodding at him, Darius turned his full attention to Rosalina. "Will you be all right, my love?" he asked before kissing her gently.
