Starting:
Kendra was tacking up the horse she was to ride on the trail ride through the wood. When she finnished, she waited for her two friends to finnish. She had left a note on the counter that said they were out on a ride... if her grandpa got home from buying feed before them.

She mounted, she rode a western saddle, and rode a red-roan colt that she rode before, last time she came to her grandparent's house. Soon the three girls started on their trail ride...

As the three friends progressed, they came accross a trail. Kendra stopped Laddy, the name of the horse she was riding, and turned in the saddle to look at her friends, a confused expression on her face.
"My grandpa said that no one has gone in this forest for over twenty years... yet theres a trail here that looks like it's been used alot, and reciently. What do you think, should we fallow it?"

Elly shifted uncomfortably in her saddle, not wanting to seem like a spoilsport but not exactly wanting to. "Um...if you guys want to, I guess," she murmured nocommitally.

Kendra shrugged. She turned back around in the saddle.
"Well, I think we should... lets follow it," she nudged Laddy into a walk, and she followed the trail, then stopped. Up ahead there was an owl sitting on a low branch. She quietly turned in the saddle.
"See the owl?" she wispered...

Brownfeather sat on a low branch over the trail that led from Earth to the other world he called home. He dozed a little, then heard something. She opened his eyes, and turned his head 0 degrees to the left and saw three girls on horses.
"See the owl?" he heard one of them say.
"Who? Whhooo are you? Who?" he said, in his low rolling owl voice...

Elly froze, eyes fixed on the owl. "Guys," she said, tapping Kendra on the shoulder. "It's talking." After a pause, she added uneasily, "I think we should turn around."

Kendra froze too, looking at the owl.
"But owls go 'Who' right? Thats why it's call a hoot."
They watched as the owl flew to a branch further away from them and farther down the trail.
"Maybe it's trying to lead us somewere! Lest fallow it." she said excitedly...

"Do we have to?" said Elly uneasily. "I don't wanna be a spoilsport but..." she trailed off. "I guess if you guys want to," she finished resignedly. "You can't say I didn't warn you. It was talking."

Kendra shrugged, "You don't have to if you don't want to, but I want to see were this trail leads. What if it leads to a clearing were theres horses? I mean, horses could use this trail to get through the forest."
She nudged Laddy into a walk, and when she was almost a yard from the owl, it flew a little further. Kendra went a little further, and then the owl flew into the bush. Right were it landed, two trees, one on each side of the trail, made an arch over the trail.
"Wow! You guys should see this!" she called...

"Hey, it's like a door, how cool," said Elly, coming behind Kendra, her misgivings temporarily forgotten. "Those trees look really old." She rode forward and reached out a hand to touch the trunk. Jerking back suddenly, she looked at it with wide eyes. "Wow, that was weird, it felt like an electric shock."

Putting out its head to pull up some grass, her horse touched the tree involuntarily and felt the same thing. Shying uncomfortably, it danced sideways, ears flat on its head, and in a sudden burst of nerves shot forward, under the arch of trees. A flash of light like one from a camera was there for a split second, and then the woods cleared and Elly was nowhere to be seen.

Kendra was looking closely at the trees, when there was a light, and designs, like elven designs glowed off the trunks, then vanished. Looking up Kendra's jaw dropped.
"Elly? Elly!" Kendra called, but she was no were to be seen. Kendra tried touching the trunk, but felt something like electricity, and before she knew it something spooked Laddy, and he went bolting off through the arch as well...

I was cured all right.

Karara krept through the forest, spying on a girl that had appeared. She silently followed her subject of interest, as she wasnt really a victim, but rather a new comer, and Karara was still a very curious lioness, much like a cub still in many ways.

Quite frightened at the sudden displacement of time and space, Elly's horse galloped wildly for quite a space and finally stopped, his eyes very wild and his ears back flat. Elly hastily dismounted, not a little alarmed herself, and held his halter tightly. She looked around. These woods were quite unknown to her and as she turned, taking in everything, she wondered uneasily where Kendra and Jackee were, and if there was anything dangerous here.
