The door to his office clicked closed behind him. He didn't bother to turn on a light, and instead, headed straight for his office chair, and swirled it around, so he could look out the window that was behind his desk.

Such a beautiful view.

None of it registered with him as his eyes focused on nothing at all. His eyes were still wet, and that still bothered him. He wasn't supposed to react this way, and he couldn't understand why it was all coming down on top of his head.

He learned another hard lesson - one he had tried to teach to Meredith and failed to do -- never -ever- get attached to your patients.

It's why you were never supposed to operate on someone you knew personally, or had a personal relationship with. Because if something were to go wrong, the guilt was enough to bury you. he had tried to warn Meredith, and yet he had failed to do so himself.

It was killing him.

He ran a hand over his eyes, and just stared.

He had failed. It was killing him. He had fallen. It was killing him.

Merideth sat down resting her chin on the stairways cool metal. Christina was sitting next to her but she didn't feel like talking at the moment.
"Come on, you have to talk. Spill." Christina said in her ususal no-nonsense tone.
Merideth shook her head, "He hates me. Probably, I don't know. What's wrong with me?"

His eyes were beginning to glaze over. He knew that he needed sleep, but he needed to push himself -- he wanted to get these charts done before he finally slid into bed.

Besides. Going home and sliding into bed would mean dealing with Addison, and that was something he didn't want to deal with right at that moment.

He had almost kissed Meredith again. He had almost kissed her, and he would have if Bailey hadn't knocked on the door exactly when she did. And who knew where that kissing would have led.

He really wasn't sure how long he was working for when he finally lifted his head, looking at the clock that was across the wall in his office. His eyes focused and he dropped his pen back on his desk. Leaning back in his chair, he lifted his arms, stretching.

It was time to get a little bit of sleep.

He felt the kinks go out of his back as he stretched, as he let his mind wander again for a moment.

He was still one bundle of confusion. And he was still one bundle of emotions. But right now, he was a tired bundle of something.

Locking the door and closing the blinds, he changed into his street clothes, sliding intop his leather jacket before grabbing his briefcase. One last look around and he opened the door, intending on heading home.
It was late.


After the office he headed toward the assignment board to see if there was anything already planned for tomorrow.
In the distance he could see Mark.
He curse himself.


damn it....

He quickly turned around and headed upstairs.
To his suprise he saw Christine and Meredith on the stairs....sitting...

he stopped at the bottom.

I guess this is a popular place to be....

he smirked..
