You never know when it's over. You only know it will be over one day.

Amanda Heart, a young woman, normal, even an outsider. She has no friends. Others might make fun of her, calling her a "witch". They don't know how right they are. Amanda has a deep and dark secret. She knows when others are going to die. Amanda isn't a normal student. Amanda is the Angel of Death. But Amanda is scared of her own death. She knows, even Angels have to die and she won't live forever. She doesn't know when her time will be over. She only knows the virus, injected by the Angel of Mercy is working inside of her, slowly killing her. She knows, her time will be over soon. Her only hope is to find an antidote. And she is scared. She is scared she won't get the mercy she is hoping for.

(We will start this before the Angel of Mercy poisons her)

Amanda stood beside a bed in a hospital and looked down at the child. She shook her head. The girl was still so young, her life has just begun and now, it should end so soon. Amanda knew it was the best. The girl couldn't be helped anymore. The cancer had grown too fast and everyone knew it. Lisa Howard, four years old. Amanda stepped behind the father, who was holding the crying mother in his arms. She looked into the girls face and she knew it was over. She closed her eyes...listening to the flatline, silently crying for herself.
Suddenly, she could hear a voice behind her. "Where am I?" Amanda looked back. "Hello, Lisa. Are you ready?" Lisa looked at her and she nodded. "I have seen you before." Amanda nodded. "I know." Lisa went back. "I don't want to go." she whispered, fighting her tears back. "I want to stay with mommy and daddy. I don't want to go with you." Amanda sighed softly. Most of the children she had led to the other side reacted like this. "Don't be scared" Amanda whispered. "I am Amanda. You can trust me. Come with me" The girl hesitated for a while, then she nodded and looked up at her dead body. "Why are mommy and daddy crying, Amanda?" Amanda sighed, then she smiled softly at her. "Because they are happy. Because you are free now. You won't feel pain anymore. Come." She took the girl by the hand and went through the corridor with her. Suddenly, everything around them grew dark. Amanda felt the grip tightened. The girl was scared. "Don't be afraid, Lisa. You will soon see the light. Come." She kept going, until she could see a white light, the end of the tunnel. "Where are we going?" Amanda didn't answer, but looked down at her. "Don't talk now. Come." The girl nodded. "I am scared." Amanda smiled at her. "I know, Lisa. But it will pass. Trust me." She kept going, until they reached the light. Amanda saw the little girl vanishing in a bright white shining. Amanda smiled at her and waved. Lisa looked back and waved too. "Thank you, Amanda" she whispered. "Thank you."
Suddenly, everything around her faded away. She was back at the hospital, standing in the middle of the corridor, but not as the Angel of Death, but as the appartely normal student Amanda she supposed to be. She left the hospital building and went back to the boarding school, up to the stairs, where she shared a room under the roof with another Angel of Shadows, Kira. She was sitting on a chair behind her desk. Amanda stepped behind her. She could still feel the tears in her eyes and her voice was cracking. She was doing this for so long now, but still she felt sorry, especially when she had to take children with her. She knew it wasn't actually her who was killing them, but it was her who was taking their souls away. "I went to take Lisa Howard with me. She is free now."

Scarlett looked around. As she'd presumed, the borading school's long and narrow dorm corridor was empty, as it alwayswas at this time of day. Despite a natural confidence, the Angel of Mercy was shaking with a nervousness she wasn't familliar with. The inky black ringlets that framed her face were brushed backwards by the wind of an open and creaking window, its wooden frame highly polished but not quite attractive. She began taking measured steps, counting the unmarked doors of the rooms.
"Aha."
Quickly making sure the coast was clear, she tapped once on the door, and hearing no noise at the other side, put the "borrowed" key into the lock. It clicked in a satisfying manner, and she opened the door as silently as she could, and considered her next move. Out of her pocket she drew a clear transparent purple liquid in a vial, marked with the skull and cross bones sign and a warning - 'DO NOT INGEST'. After a moment of indesicion, Scarlett moved over to the convient water bottle and pile of clean laundry by the bed. Now that the hard part was over, she relaxed a little. The bottle cap was easily undone, then half the contents of the little vial were stirred carfully into the water. With the cap replaced and the poison unrecogniseable now, Scarlett vacated the room, now on her way to replace the, ah, <i>borrowed</i> key. The door clicked shut, and the lock moved wearily to its post, and Scarlett moved swiftly away from Amanda's room.

Kira looked at her friend and nodded. "At least she is at peace." She told Amanda. Like her friend, Kira could also tell when a person was to die, but on top of that, che could tell how they would die, and that only occored if she touched that person, or something of theirs. And if the person was already dead, it was the same. And she could feel how they would die, any physical pain they felt. That was one reason she stayed alone most of the time, unless she was with Amanda.

Amanda nodded and went over to the bed, taking her water bottle. Nervously, she played around with it, then she sat down. "I wish I could say sorry to the relatives. Only one time...I wish they could see me. I wish I could talk to them, that I'm bringing the dead away, that I'm bringing them to peace. I wish they would know." She sighed deeply. I'm bringing them away and nobody knows where exept me. I don't want to do this anymore, Kira. I can't do this anymore. You should see their eyes. They are so scared when I bring them away. They are trusting me...but they don't know anything."

Kra smiled faintly and looked at her friend. "I know, but you know it would be too much. I already see how they die, and feel it most of the time. That already, is too much." She got up and streached. "I had to leave for a moment and bumped into several students. Her voice faded.

Amanda stood up and placed a hand on her friends' shoulder. "Come...come here...I know it is hard for you. Believe me, I know how you feel...that means...I don't. Nobody can know how you feel when you see their deaths or feel the pain they are in..." She closed her arms around her. "But that's our fate here. We are here to...help them...even it is hard." She looked at her. "How are you feeling now? A bit better?"
