Halia shook her head and replied, " They were not men tracks , they are very strange. What do you think Nestaron? " |

"I'm not sure," Nestaron admitted. "Hopefully they are tracking the orcs for the same reason we are, but we can't be to carefull." He stopped and thught for a moment. "Thy almost looked like hoof tracks, yet there were signs an orginized company marching." |

Halia nodded and said " Yes, strange hoof marks, almost as if. . .whatever it was , was going on only two feet. I have never seen such a thing in middle earth." |

Nestaron nodded, looking around their surroundings. "But then I believe we passed beyond the boarders of middle earth many days ago." |

Halia nodded and looked thoughtful. " They started following about 1 day ago, we were past the borders of middle Earth by then. We should be carefull, we don't know what creatures are out here or whos side they are on. " Halia walked over and let Ariath out of his bridle to eat and began to get her bedroll out. |

"Agreed," Nestaron said with a nodd as he set down the water he had acquired from the stream nearby. Nestaron puled out his bow and a few arrows. "I'll take first watch." He walked over to a fallen over tree and sat down on it's trunk. |

Feredir got his bed all ready and began to lay down. "this sure is a strange place." he said quietly to himself. |

As the night faded into a cold black expanse Nestaron sat alertly. Strange sounds filled the night... sounds that were not typical of the animals in middle earth. "What kind of alnd have we ventured into?" he wondered. |

Halia lay still on her bed but wide awake as the breeze rustled through the trees. Suddenly her eyes flew open and she listened intently. .. " The trees. . . they are talking to each other, I did not know there were talking trees outside of Middle Earth'" she thought to herself. The night sounds were also very different, this land had a different feel, a different smell. It seemed so much like normall earth, but yet. . there was something different than any place she had been before. She closed her eyes again and reached out her thoughts to sense where Ariath was. She found him grazing quietly at the edge of the clearing, his nerves were a bit jittery but he was fine. Halia tried to relax as she settled into her waking sleep common to elves, hoping that morning would come soon. She didnt like holding still for long. |

The first watch of the night passed with little more than curious happenings in the distant forest. Voices could be heard int he trees, murmerings of a strange tongue, yet intriguing. Nestaron's natural curiosity wished he could go investigate, but his self-control had the stronger voice. Finally his watch was over and he walked over to wake Halia. As he stepped back into the light of the dwindling camp fire he was sure he saw a tree moving. "An ent?" he thought, perhaps. No... it was something else... more like a undefined form, not bound by the wood of a tree. A life force of sorts. Nestaron shook his head and glared into the woods for a momet until he could see it no more, but a whirling image of fragrent leaves lingered in his mind. "Halia, are you sleeping?" he asked softly. |

Halia looked up as she heard Nestaron's voice. Sitting up she replied, " As much as I ever will in this strange land. Is it my turn to watch?" |

"It is," Nestaron answered. He sighed and took a spot on the ground. "It is strange indeed... I was sure I saw a tree moving, only not like an ent. It was more like an image of leaves simmering in the night. I didn't feel any threat from it though." |

Halia thought a moment and replied, " Maybe the tales are true that the rangers used to tell of the strange things they saw while traveling abroad." Halia stood up and climbed up to the top of a boulder to sit and watch, still thinking she wrapper her cloak around her. |

"Perhaps," Nestaron agreed, laying down. he had always thought them to be rumors, or stretches of the truth. Now he was seeing for himself that such things could easily be drawn from the strange enteties of this distant land. |

Feradir lay half asleep as he waited for his watch. Thoughts were going through his head as he lay there, thoughts about the strange things he was hearing. |
