Rosalina sighed. "She still has yet to wake." She told him. "I'm scared Darius." Rosalina confessed. "I don't want to loose her."

"I will do everything in my power to help her for your sake, my lovely Ro," Darius remarked wishing he could just take her up in his arms and comfort her. "I can understand why you are scared and I wished to heaven that I knew everything there was about the healing arts, but I don't. Nevertheless, whatever skills I have, I use to aid her," he remarked. Sighing softly, Darius just kept his attention on their road, wanting to make sure that they would not be ambushed in the dead of night. "Did your father ever know the type of man her husband was?" he asked after a moment as he continued to drive the mules forward.

"I see," Darius remarked quietly, which more or less meant in his mind that Calista had just been a political pawn as most daughters of minor lords were. Falling silent then, Darius continued to drive the mules onward. After about another thirty minutes the small company finally arrived at his dwelling. "All right, we are here," he remarked as he dismounted and then held out his hand for Rosalina. Once she dismounted he would climb into the wagon to carry Calista.

Rosalina took his hand and got off The wagon. "Be careful with her." Rosalina said.

Giving Rosalina a soft smile as she dismounted, Darius lightly pressed a kiss to the top of her head. "Don't worry, my love. I will be as gentle as I can be with her," he remarked before easily stepping into the wagon. Moving to Calista's side, he gently lifted the unconscious woman into his arms. As he carried the lifeless woman, Darius made sure to dismount as gently as possible, not wanting to jar the woman in his arms, knowing that any cry of pain from her would worry Rosalina. "Let's go, love," he remarked as he moved off to his abode. Once he laid Calista down in the guest bedroom he could come back out for the bags if need be.

After laying Calista down on the bed, Darius went to back outside to store the wagon and stable the mules before gathering Rosalina's and Calista's belongings.

Unaware that Rosalina sat at her side, Calista moaned softly before she started to cough and then wheeze as she lay on the bed. Her fair skin had a sickly pallor to it and beads of sweat dotted her forehead as an infection began to set into her body.

"Ro..." Calista croaked, her weak voice barely audible as she managed to open her eyes slightly and stared around her with dull glazed eyes. "Where-?" she tried to ask, but was unable to finished the sentence before she started to cough and wheeze again.

Coming into the room with all of the bags, Darius set them down on the ground, a frown on his face as he listened to Calista cough and wheeze. The woman only seemed to be getting worse as time wore on and he was starting to wonder if she would be able to last the night...much less a few days.

"Not good...." Calista whispered. "Julius will come..." she croaked out. She wanted to tell Rosalina to take her back before she too suffered her husband's wrath but the effort to get out just a few words overtaxed her waning strength. Moaning softly, Calista's eyes fluttered close as she passed out once more and her head slipped toward her shoulder.

Sighing softly, Darius walked over to the unconscious woman on the bed and lightly placed a hand on her forehead after she blacked out. Grimacing at the unusual heat emitting from her skin, he knew at once that the woman was suffering from a fever.

"I am not sure, Ro," Darius told Rosalina softly before leaving for a few minutes to draw water from a well. Carrying the bucket into the room, he rummaged for a cloth. Upon finding a suitable rag, he soaked it in the water before lightly placing the cloth on Calista's forehead. "Your sister has a fever," he said softly. "I fear the beating Julius inflicted upon her made her susceptible to it. Did you bring any herbs with you?" Darius asked her after a moment. "If not, I can try and see if I can gather a few that may help her."

"I see," Darius remarked softly with a sad sigh. "Unfortunately I only know of a few herbs and even then I am not sure if they will be of much assistance to her...considering her weak state. However, I can go and hunt for them. Perhaps a few herbs in her body will be better than nothing," Darius remarked. "Will you be all right alone?" he asked Rosalina next, hating to leave the woman's side.
