Hey, I don't think we've ever had a Numenorian RP. I was thinking it might be fun to do one right around the time (I don't know the exact date) when Sauron was corrupting the Numenorians, or earlier around the overthrow of Tar-Miriel. Anyway, feedback? Any ideas? There was a group of Numenorians called the Faithful that didn't succumb to Sauron's persuasive powers right around the time Numenor was destroyed, so it might be fun to RP as them as well.

Sounds cool! But I don't know that much about Tar-Miriel etc.. but if you could tell me abit about it I would love to join you, Mel :)

Well, basically Tar-Miriel was supposed to be the 24th(?) monarch of Numenor after her father Tar-Palantir died, but his nephew Ar-Pharazon usurped the throne and forced her to marry him. I think eventually he captured Sauron and brought him back to Numenor, where he corrupted them and indirectly caused the downfall of Numenor. I think I have all that right :P

Yeah, though it sounds as though he first captured Sauron, and then corrupted the Numenoreans.

Anyways, I'd love to join. The Numenoreans rock. Hollow steel bows? That sounds awesome. So does their heavy armor.

No, I mean Sauron corrupted Ar-Pharazon, who sorta along with him then corrupted the rest of the Numenorians. But whatever. Something like that.

I need to do some reading up, make sure none of my details are rampantly erroneous. What do you guys think as far as plot - should we just do a random Numenorian thing or should it be Tar-Miriel or around that period?

Oooo sounds cool. I would totally join. I don't know much about the Numenorians, but it would still be a lot of fun. I think it would be cool to do it around the Tar-Miriel period. But that's just my opinion.

Oooh, I can see I'm not going to be able to escape this one ;) I've added a poll at the top - random Numenorian, or Tar-Miriel/Ar-Pharazon?

I'm still trying to find time to read up - this is my last week of school before the three-week Christmas break, so maybe then. I think it would be really cool to do a Tar-Miriel/Ar-Pharazon one, but I'll have to see what you guys think.

Wow, a Numenorian rp, that's a great idea! If you start it, I'd definitely join! I'm totally into Numenor right now :P I'm in a Numenor rp forum, it's quite new, well, but it's about the beginning of the Numenorian time... so quite different story...
I would love to be in a Tar-Miriel/Ar-Pharazon rp, just because I hardly know anything about them yet... haven't read the books for a far too long time... :(

Yeah, that would also be interesting...the thing is, with the first option we already have a pretty much ready-made plot, whereas if we do that one has to be thought up... I don't know about you, but the whole reason I don't often start RPs is because I have quite a bit of trouble coming up with a good plot.

Numenorean RPs are cool as there is a lot to work with inside the vague guidelines of canon. An era I have written RP in was the Aldorion and Erendis period that is a chapter in Unfinished Tales. I know this is really old ... before my coming to the site... but thought a comment was due. Maybe.... if anyone has notifications turned on AND they still have the same email, who knows... maybe it will get through the ether?
