After much discussion on the chapter, The Council of Elrond, I have decided to make a poll so as to find out how many people actually like The Council of Elrond and how many don't like it.
Personally, I found all this talking very boring, but also very informative.

I liked it because it has so much info and many memorable quotes. It also tells us alot about each characters personality by the way they think of the ring and what they say. It was a bit long though.

I dunno. I'm split on this. WE did get introductions to the characters, but, it was slow.

I liked it because it really clears a lot of stuff up. Like if you skipped that chapter because you got bored, then in the next chapter you would be like "who the heck is Boromir.." or "If there are these big, strong men and a wizard AND an elf...then why are the hobbits even going? Were the others too scared to do it alone?" It just wouldn't make sense. I disliked it because of the length, but hey some of the best things in life take a long time...Plus we've all seen what happens when no lengthy amount of good council is taken(stupid wars *shakes fist*)
Oh ya and I chose can't decide lol

I can really not decide... I like that chapter because it tells you a lot of very interesting information (Gandalf, Gollum...), but the speeches of Boromir and Aragorn a REALLY dislike, because they are so... well, arrogant and too proud on their own duty! (And that I say, who is a fanatic Aragorn-fan... )
So some parts of it I like and some not...

I don't just like, I love the chapter "Council of Elrond." Why? Because not only does it reveal so much, but there are so many stories found within that chapter. Each story, if expanded, would make a whole tale in and of itself. It's such a clever chapter!

Of course I like the chapter the Council of Elrond, how could I not? Every single chapter written by the Professor is magnificent. The people who think it is a rather slow chapter don't know the true art of writing and reading.

I liked it, it was really informative, and gave a lot of background on the the main things that the Lord of the Rings is concerned with. But it had a lot of information, and it took me a while to grasp everything.

Well, I have to say that it is very informative and has many stories hidden within, its just so long....maybe if it weren't so long I would appreciate it just as much as everyone else here.

What exactly do you mean by that? You don't think it is any special or something? Or it's special like the rest?
