My favorite character is defenitley the Lady Galadriel. I don't know why, but I've always loved her. Maybe it's because she's so majestic and regal, or maybe because she passed her test. I don't know. She'll always be my favorite. :)

Hm, as read your words of Galadriel i started to remember to the film. You'r right she's a great character... in the film and in the book as well.
Tolkien used a few women in his book but those of his female character's really show his opinion on women.

Just think about Arwen: she's noble as her name shows it and loves over death and pain. Or Galadriel, as you wrote she's majestic, regal. Eowyn who fears nothing, noble as well and ready to fight for his family and people. Goldberry who is beautiful and kind, and mystic...

So everything what is good and beautiful in women he wrote into his book.

Boromir is my favorite too! I can connect the most with him. I was so mad when he died.

Gildor Inglorion. I just love his line in the books "Never ask an elf for counsel, as he will say both yes and no" And he just rocks generally. :D

My favourite character has to be Arwen, which is pretty typical you might say.

She has such a wonderful story and a hidden strength that seems to resonate around her and rub off on others like Elrond.

In the film it is definitely Legolas, but in the book I like almost all characters.. I think my favo bookcharrie is Galadriel, because she is a real queen of Lorien..She is soo strong and proud, so wonderful.

How can you all choose?! In the book I think I like Merry and Pippin and Frodo and Gimli. In the movie...oh boy...in the movie I think the only people that I wouldn't call my favorite characters (though that's not to say I don't like them) would be Gandalf and Elrond and possibly Galadriel. I really like Boromir (though I still wouldn't call him my VERY favorite), especially in the scene where he's horsing around with Merry and Pippin. So really, I'm so completely undecided that it's not even funny.

My favourite character's Aragorn, then Arwen. I'm not too high on most of the Fellowship, I like a lot of the older characters more like Tom Bombadil and some of the Valar (one of the Queens, though I can't remember her name). I don't know, there are a lot.
