Tom Bombadil is a fun, unique character to me. I love what he represents and also the songs that he sings.
I agree that Tolkien had a purpose for every character he chose to put in the book, and Tom is certainly no exception.

I liked tom! He's a character wich makes me feel good, when you read about when the hobbits are with him, you're sure they're safe.

I love Tom Bombadil, he's my favourite character in the first book and I think it is so sad, that they didn't take him into the movies. I love his songs and as often as I can I sing them while reading them, what is sooo funny I like him!
Dong-Long! Dongelong" läute laute lillo
wenn - wann! Weidenmann! Dolli! Dalli! Dillo!
Tom! Bom! Toller Tom! Tom Bombadillo!
(that's the German version)

I spose that Tom is like a mug of hot chocolate and a plate of Chocolate hobnobs on a cold night's camping; a very warming and good thing to have with u lol. That sounds wierd doesnt it. Oh never mind.

Tom's a really great character free of angst. It was very saddening when he wasn't in the movie but it was also a good thing I think because you can run around singing his songs in room of Lord of the Rings movie fans and they have no idea what your doing. I know I've done it, it was so fun, in a weird kinda way.

I know. I'm so mad at PJ for excluding that part.

I would be, but I don't think he would've been easy to fit into the movies. People who haven't read the book would be at a loss about the importance of his character. So I can understand why PJ did it, though I would like to have seen him in it for my own sake.
