Viggo Mortensen!!! *squee!*

Ok you have to understand my fascination with Viggo- I think he is one of the most amazing actors ever. It's not really a fangirl crush... of course he is rather dashing, but he's a *little* too old for me. It's more an "admiration from afar" thing...

Anyway, I saw the movie yesterday! It was very, very interesting. It was violent of course, but it made me think a lot. And they balanced the extreme violence with some very meaningful drama. I thought it was an excellent movie- but don't go to see it if you are in the mood for something lighter and "entertaining." It makes the audience do a bit of mental work.

The acting was incredible, and the ending was amazing. It made me gasp out loud and cry at times. I recommend seeing it, if you feel up to it at some point!

When he appeared on the Daily show recently, Viggo said to John Stewart that he thought this might be the best movie he has ever been in. Coming from him, that is saying something. I have seen the trailer and several clips and I also read about 100 summaries. And then I found out about that damn agelimit(18) and I'm 15! Not that I care, but my dear mom does. So I'll have to wait for the DVD to come out....I can imagine the acting was awesome, for Viggo is one of the world's best actors! (I'm not a fangirl, either. Actually I'm not a fan of any human being.) And abou that TV show: I've seen it!! It was so cool! I wonder where he learned that trick! Btw, watch the Letterman interview on Brego.net. He tells a weird story about a duck there. It will make you laugh! I would be really glad if you could give me a few detailed about the movie.

Hey sorry I haven't replied earlier... I've been *bleeping* busy. :-D
Anyway Thank You for the referral to the letterman interview, it was really funny! And just awesome to be able to watch Viggo some more... hehe.

You said you would like some details about the movie... I'm not sure where to start. You've read summaries so I won't tell you the general story again... in one part Viggo's character thinks his family is going to be attacked by the men who have been watching him, and he runs all the way home with an injured foot (it was stabbed in the fight that is shown in the preview, when he whips out an amazing move to save the people in the diner where he works). He even calls to tell his wife to get out the shotgun. But he finds that his family is fine, at least for now... none of the stalkers have come to the house. He has a scene where he is gasping for breath, and his children are really worried to see him so freaked out, and their mom with a gun. He has a conversation with his teenage son. Their relationship develops really interestingly throughout the movie.

Let's see, other tidbits: There are some intense sex scenes, that are really beautifully done (I thought) so as not to just be gratuitous. The characters are very real. Near the beginning the character of Viggo's wife dresses up as a cheerleader one night because "they never got to be teenagers together." The scene really stands out in contrast to the horrible violence later.

Is that the kind of thing you wanted? I just started talking about the first random things that popped in my head. If you want more let me know, I'm happy to describe things for you. But I don't want to ruin the movie for you, even if you do have to wait to see it! It's worth the wait, don't worry. :closedeyes:

YAY THANK YOU!!! No, I'd love to know much more, it won't ruin the movie for me...Now that I have to wait till spring to watch it... :-( It sounds really cool. *wants to c movie NOW* (only Cronenberg could have left out the sex scenes...but it's Cronenberg, so...)

Oohh, I saw the trailer on www.apple.com a while ago, hopefully I'll see it, though I'm in Israel and the movie theathers and movies are very limited!!! If not, I'll just have to rent it.

I have seen the movie, SOOOO Good. I wanted to go see it again, and i may if its still on next week.

Viggo is really good in it as usual, he is such a talented guy! ITS NOT FAIR!

lol where i live its a 15 so i am good by a year :P so i am just lucky that i got in, tho my parents woulda taken me to see it anyway so i think i woulda seen it either way :P

TIP:

DO NOT GO SEE THIS MOVIE WITH YOUR PARENTS UNLESS YOU WANT TO SIT NEXT TO THEM DURING RANCHY SEX SCENES

I heard there would be some sex scenes... I think I'll just close my eyes then... they really could have left out THOSE! But well...Cronenberg, ye know...I dunno if my parents wanna watch it, but they don't really care about sex scenes...they say it's just normal... nothing to worry about...I still think the characters (as well as the actors) can do that in their freetime and NOT in front of the camera.Noone wants to see that! At least I don't...
