This was Viggo's very first film role. It was a little indie film either produced, written, or directed by Sean Penn (I can't remember which). It's a story about two estranged Midwestern brothers who become reunited again when one (Viggo's character) is released from prison (he's very much a rebel and a troublemaker, whereas his older brother is not). The basic story is about the younger brother, with his older brother's help, trying to start a new life and settle down, despite the fact that he's very much a wanderer and a restless soul.
The story's great, though rather sad, and Viggo's acting is just amazing! After seeing it, I couldn't believe that most people (including myself
) hadn't really known who he was until LOTR, he was that good! It definitely made me realize how phenomenal an actor he really is
