I can make layouts.

here is a sample of my work:
http://www.freewebs.com/blessedbythevalar/
http://www.freewebs.com/porcelainpaige/
I don't code them, but I had Enedlhach code.

What do you want it of? If you want specific pics? Also, if you would like a specific theme?

And I have a site where I provide some free layouts - they're probably not what you're looking for, but they're worth browsing through. :-D

Here's the site -

http://d-designs.skyefairy.net

I also accept layout requests through e-mail. :-D :bye2:

Not degrading you or anything, but your site is made with lots and lots of tables. Your site is not valid, has no doc type, has 44 errors, you might want to fix those here: <a href="http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fd-designs.skyefairy.net%2F&charset=%28detect+automatically%29&doctype=Inline">here</a>.

Your CSS has <a href="http://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/validator?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fd-designs.skyefairy.net%2F14style.css&warning=1&profile=css21&usermedium=all">11 errors</a>. All of this=poor coding. No offence, but with all of these errors, and without standard valid coding, you shouldn't be making layouts for others.

Fifth time I say this in this forum: http://www.tutorialtastic.co.uk >> Create a tableless layout = easier to use, knowledge of basic html required, easier to validate, has other helplful tutorials.

THANK YOU, good day.

Sorry if I sounded brute, reviewing websites is what I do.

Although I would advise running your pages through the w3c's HTML validator and CSS validator, I wouldn't worry too much as long as they show up ok in, say, IE and firefox. I mean, yahoo has 37 errors on their home page (currently)...

Sometimes I find things I can't do with div that are trivial with tables. There's a place for everything.

Don't ever let anyone tell you not to code just because you don't code the way they would.

What about Opera? IE and Firefox aren't the only browsers around you know...

So, if YAHOO doesn't give two cents about validation, does that mean you don't have to either? Seriously, wow.

I love the fact that people who proclaim that "as long as your code works, WHO CARES" call themselves web-designers. But do you even know what validation has to offer besides the pride of flawless coding? I'll tell you:

-Faster loading times
-Search Engine Optimization
-Cross Platform Compatability
-Easy Maintenance
-Your Website Is Future Proof (HTML isn't so popular anymore)

As taken by http://www.jemjabella.co.uk/scribblings ... dtrend.php

Would you really rather sacrafice all of that to be a web-rebel?

You can do almost ANYTHING with div, so I have no idea WHAT you are talking about. "There's a place for everything"? Tables are for data, tables are complicated, annoying, amateur, and can't be validated if used as layouts.

CSS Layouts is the proper way, not my way THANK-YOU.

I know. But it's not reasonable to ask people to run six operating systems with a dozen browsers per. Opera and Safari should be close enough to Firefox that it won't really matter in the end. Most people aren't going to get millions of hits, and fully 80% of people use IE anyway...

The point is you can be successful without being standards-complaint.

I know the value of standards-compliance. Every page of thulcandra.com validates as HTML 4.1 Strict, with the exception of the applet tags. But for people who are getting started, it's not the thing to be worried about. Coding a site is daunting enough, let alone making the fussy validator happy. Once a site is established and the owner is comfortable with HTML, then the owner might want to think about making it compliant.

There isn't a good way to make a div take up all of the remaining space on the page.
On this page, when I used divs, long content would overflow the footer div (which I had absolutely positioned). I probably could have made it work with a div, but it wasn't worth it to my employer to waste time on that. I threw together a table and got on to the ASP scripting.

Yes, but again, that doesn't make it right. Standards are something to proud of, and is greatly looked up to. People look up to others who have wonderful sites and can manage the simple standards of w3.org.

I'd like to see the source for this, it seems like your using those annoying div "style" type divs. I'm talking of those that uses purely classes, id's, containers, and floats. Div layouts are different then CSS Layouts.

If you used these then I think I know what your problem was:

Code:
#footer
{
         clear:both;
}

Yeah, I used the style attribute because I'm lazy and it's faster (for me). The page is dynamically generated anyway, so I don't have to worry about having a bunch of pages to change it on.

Ah, this explains it. True it's faster, but clearly not effective. These aren't the divs I was talking about. And these div styles are actually more difficult and frustrating, here is what I'm talking about: http://www.tutorialtastic.co.uk/category/2

AleeraVladimir and Grey Pilgrim, please lay off each other. Aleera, it's all right to give advice, but this was unsolicited, and saying "I don't mean to degrade but" is probably not the best way to do it.
