Post subject:  Haloscan.com Commenting

I would really like to be able to have commenting on my site, but as it's Geocities, cutenews won't work. I've seen a few sites recently using Haloscan commenting so I joined. But the code they give doesn't seem to work, and I don't know if I'm doing something wrong or if it won't work on my site.

Has anyone used this? And can anyone tell me what to do with the code?

Thanks!

This works for me:

1. Log In
2. Click "Install"
3. Select "None of the Above / Manual"
4. Click "Next"
5. In the HTML of the page, between the <HEAD> and </HEAD> tags, put the code from the "Step 1" box.
6. In the HTML of the page, between the <BODY> and </BODY> tags, where you want the comment link to be, put the code from the first "Step 2" box.
7. Change all the places it says "Name" to whatever topic the comments are about.

so it should look something like this (The topic here is "Dinosaurs", and USERNAME is my user name):
Code:
<HTML>
<HEAD>
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.haloscan.com/load/USERNAME">
</HEAD>
<BODY>
something you want people to post about
<a href="javascript:HaloScan('Dinosaurs');" target="_self">
<script>postCount('Dinosaurs');</script>
</a> | <a href="javascript:HaloScanTB('Dinosaurs');" target="_self">
<script>postCountTB('Dinosaurs'); </script>
</a>
</BODY>
</HTML>

Hey! I was thinking about using haloscan to do updates on a website for a club I'm in, but I want to be able to make people login to comment or see comments. Does haloscan let you do that?

Yes it does. Haloscan is very easy to use and it works well. :-)
