Grrr! One of my updates has 2070 comments, and other than 3 of them, they're ALL SPAM.
*dies*
Does anyone know how to prevent spam with cutenews? Or will I have to install wordpress?

I get a lot of spam, too... but then I put in an e-mail form just for kicks, because I decided that it might be easier for people to contact me, so the spam seems to have moved from Cutenews to that...
My e-mail inbox gets a lot of form submission spam though, but thankfully nobody can see it.
I don't know how to install Wordpress, but apparently it's better

I'd have switchced to wp ages ago but it requires a database which I haven't got.. oops. I think there's an option in cutenews so only registered users can post comments but then some people don't wanna register :/

There is an IP blocking option. This won't fix the problem completely, but it will stop people repeatedly spamming.
It can all be done from within the admin section.

I think I've blocked no less than 80 IPs...

Aww. *hugs Keyo* You poor thing.
I would recommend just installing wordpress, but that would be a little hypocritical. I've yet to figure it all out. So confuzzling!

I know there are ways that you can add a "verify email address" box or one of those images that you have to type what you see...but I'm not quite sure how to do it Maybe just google "blocking spam with Cutenews" and something might come up

Keyo, I gave you a link to the Captcha hack.. did it work? I didn't install it since my Cutenews hasn't gotten any spam at all since I started my site up again.

Celebwen - Ugg it looks too complicated. I guess I'll just have a tagboard for now... EA uses HaloScan, which I thought I might install if I really want comments on my updates.
Haldir - Meh, I tried it. Too complicated for me LOL.
JF - Oo! Punch me!

I know this was quite a while ago, but I was just reading it.
I installed WordPress a while ago and it was all fine, but I started getting spam too. Eugh.
I don't think it's really that different from CuteNews on the spam-front. I mean it lets you block people and so on easily, but I don't know if it's thats that different from CuteNews.
