Firefox is sort of renowned for not working properly with all sorts of things - different codes, etc.. I would download a different browser. Not Internet Explorer though. This can also be iffy. Try Safari or Opera for starters.

Also, it could have to do with what system you're running. If you're on an older system, whatever latest freewebs script is running might not be compatible. But a different browser would be worth a try.

Yes, I used to use IE too. It generally will work fine, it's just when you start getting into newer scripts, flash, and things like that.

To clarify:

Internet Explorer, particularly the older versions (6.0 and below) don't follow the "standards" (rules) of the web very well. Some tags/codes won't work correctly, and some will only work in IE (Microsoft made them up; they're not in the standard). 7.0 is better, and 8.0 more or less follows the rules.

However, the largest percentage of Internet users still use IE. Because of this, it's often not enough to just follow the rules. Websites normally have to be customized to make them look right in IE.

Firefox has two modes. If it detects a "DOCTYPE" tag it follows the rules. If it doesn't, it tries to act like IE would. So pages written by the rules display properly, and pages written for IE display somewhat as intended. If a page is complex and written for IE, it probably won't show quite properly in Firefox.

Safari and Opera follow the rules very closely (better than Firefox), and, as far as I know, don't attempt to imitate IE.

Firefox, Safari, and Opera should all look roughly the same for pages written according to the rules.

Pages written for IE may or may not display in the other browsers. The solution is to just use IE if the page doesn't display properly.
If you're using Firefox, there is an extension called IETab (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1419) which lets you view pages just like IE would show them, but in a firefox tab.
