I've been spending a lot of my time in the Contest forum nowadays so I was thinking of some things that I'd like to hear everyone's thoughts on...

[ 01 ] What is your ideal time length for contests? 2 weeks? 3 weeks? 5 weeks?

[ 02 ] Do you like a contest that offers awards for winners?

[ 03 ] What makes you join contests?

[ 04 ] Do you prefer banner contests?

[ 05 ] Avatar contests?

[ 06 ] Do you join a variety of contests?

Thanks guys!

Ooh, me pick me! Yes, I think you have ben spending mopre time here Kit..following me perhaps? :D

[ 01 ] What is your ideal time length for contests? 2 weeks? 3 weeks? 5 weeks?

A. Ideally I like a contest to last a week maybe 10 days, which normally (unless it's something that requires more time e.g blends), is enough time for people to get entries in. I then think about 5 days to a week is long enough for voting, so altogether about 2 weeks.

[ 02 ] Do you like a contest that offers awards for winners?

A. Without a doubt!! Awards are great as there is something to show for the amount of effort you put into something and it's also so you can look back on and say "I remember doing that". (Personal opinion: If people are not prepared to make awards they should say so, when the contest starts, or get someone else to make them.)

[ 03 ] What do makes you join contests?

A. The subject. I will only enter contests that interest me subject wise. Even if the graphic is something I enjoy making, the subject is most important.

[ 04 ] Do you prefer banner contests?

A. Yes. They are easier to make and take up less time although I becoming fond of making blends. ;)

[ 05 ] Avatar contests?

A. Has to be a really special contest for me to make avatars. They always end up taking more time to do than banners and blends.

[ 06 ] Do you join a variety of contests?

A. I think I do. I like LOTR contests (who doesn't) but it's nice to have a change and join different contests. It's also nice to not just join banner contests.

[ 01 ] What is your ideal time length for contests? 2 weeks? 3 weeks? 5 weeks?
I think 2 weeks are more than enough to come up with something, but it also depends on what kind of contest it is - banners don't take much time, blends and wallpapers can take much time.

[ 02 ] Do you like a contest that offers awards for winners?
In my opinion the avards aren't important at all. I don't enter a contest because I want an avard - I enter a contest because I think it's fun and I like to see what the others can come up with.

[ 03 ] What do makes you join contests?
The theme has to be interesting for me and I have to have enough time.

[ 04 ] Do you prefer banner contests?
I usually prefer Banner or blend contests. Banners are easier to make - blends are more fun...and I suck at Wallpapers and Avatars

[ 05 ] Avatar contests?
eh...I like to do them from time to time

[ 06 ] Do you join a variety of contests?
depends on theme and time. I have enough time and there are many good themes, I join many contests...*shrugs*

[ 01 ] What is your ideal time length for contests? 2 weeks? 3 weeks? 5 weeks?
2 or 3 weeks.

[ 02 ] Do you like a contest that offers awards for winners?
Yes, I think that that's neat. :)

[ 03 ] What makes you join contests?
If it's something having to do directly with LotR, not actors, that really helps.

[ 04 ] Do you prefer banner contests? [ 05 ] Avatar contests? [ 06 ] Do you join a variety of contests?
So far I've done a variety of things. I like to branch out. :)

[ 01 ] What is your ideal time length for contests? 2 weeks? 3 weeks? 5 weeks?

One or two weeks is best I think. I've found longer contests are more likely not to be finished.

[ 02 ] Do you like a contest that offers awards for winners?

The award is the fun part, and I prefer contests that have them.

[ 03 ] What do makes you join contests?

For the fun of it. Also to practice and experiment my graphing making skills, as well as comparing with other people's graphics.

[ 04 ] Do you prefer banner contests?

Somewhat. They are the most common contests, so I'm better at them than others.

[ 05 ] Avatar contests?

I don't do many, but I still like them.

[ 06 ] Do you join a variety of contests?

For the most part, yes. But only ones with subjects that interest me.

Thanks for answering the survey guys! :D

It's interesting how banners are the easiest to make since banners are a bit harder for me.

Hey Kit! *waves frantically*

ok...let's see here

1. What is your ideal time length for contests? 2 weeks? 3 weeks? 5 weeks?
I think at least 2-3 weeks to let people get thier entries in and things of that sort. Then mayeb about 2 weeeks of voting, so that would alltogether make about a months to five weeks? Yeah.

2.Do you like a contest that offers awards for winners?
Yes, when people offer awards it's also a sort of second motivation, and then you can look back and know what you one, what you didn't, awards are nice and it rewards people with a little something for thier work.

3.What makes you join contests?
It's already been said, but theme is quite important for joining a contest. Also maybe soemthing unusual that I would find challenging is fun. It also depends on how motivated the Contest keeper is, if he/she posts "Poto banner contest, 2 entries you have 10 days" I rpobablly won't join it, simply because he/she seems careless and the contest might go through, and that's VERY irritating.

4.Do you prefer banner contests?
Most of the contests I've ver joined are banner contests, I only recently started joining the new and improved "vollie" contest, but yeah, i like banners *hugs* :-p

5.Avatar contests?
Can't say I've entered any avatar contests, they're actually harder to make than banners  I have voted in some though!

6.Do you join a variety of contests?
Subject-wise, I'm pretty sure I do, I've joined lotsa different types of contests, and graphic wise, yeah sort of banner/vollie ones...

[ 01 ] What is your ideal time length for contests? 2 weeks? 3 weeks? 5 weeks?
I usually give people a week to turn in entries, and then voting goes on for about a week to a week 1/2 depending on how many votes I get. After the voting has closed it usually takes me 2 days to get the awards out. Add that together and you get about 2-2 1/2 weeks.

[ 02 ] Do you like a contest that offers awards for winners?
From the contest host's point of view I always make sure my winners have some kind of award made for their efforts. The winners always deserve to win something. :)

[ 03 ] What makes you join contests?
Unfotunately, I don't have any graphis making programmes, so any contests I do enter must be something like creating fanfics, poems, or other types of writing.

[ 04 ] Do you prefer banner contests?
As a contest host I say yes. As a contest participator I say no.

[ 05 ] Avatar contests?
Ditto.

[ 06 ] Do you join a variety of contests?
My lack of a graphics making programme does not provide me with much variety when joining contests.

[ 01 ] What is your ideal time length for contests? 2 weeks? 3 weeks? 5 weeks?
It depends on the contest-for a graphic contest, maybe 1-2 weeks. For writing contests, longer, especially for short stories

[ 02 ] Do you like a contest that offers awards for winners?
Yep, that's always fun!

[ 03 ] What makes you join contests?
If it's something I'm interested in, and am somewhat good at

[ 04 ] Do you prefer banner contests?
No, I'm more of a writing contest person. I'm not good at graphics

[ 05 ] Avatar contests?
Occasionally, but not very often

[ 06 ] Do you join a variety of contests?
I don't really join that many, since they're mostly graphic contests. I like joining different writing ones, though. (fan-fic, historical fiction, etc.)
