Could we perhaps get the original pictures they could use so we can compare/contrast?

If I may venture to offer an opinion?

I can understand what you mean Kit, but I don't think any of us where copying the colours off the original colour pictures. Quite a few of us have used stock pictures and textures, so comparisons between the original image would have to take that into account. I think most of us just went for our own colour scheme. Which isn't a bad thing, but if people think they are judging on the comparisons and not the actual colourizations, it may cause a few problems. :-)

You must understand that that isn't how I judge colorizations, but I want to see what they are given with and what they ended up with --- how much they edit, how much they utilize tools to make this photograph their own using their own color scheme.

I never said that you guys are copying off the original colors ---- because I want to assume to that we're all honest about our work and participation in contests. It's just easier for me to judge the work progress from the original images than with each other. This way I can try to give some good feedback other then, "Oh this is nice!" and I can judge and vote by the work not by how nice it looks against another entry.

No, I no you never said we did, I was mentioning that because at the time I didn't realise why you needed the original images if not to compare if the colours were similar etc.

Riniel Anariel has posted the images we were given in the beginning at the top of this post. That was all we were shown.

I can understand how you could think of me of just judging whether or not it looks like the original, I don't vote in colorization contests that often, in fact never before ---- this is something I've always wanted to observe and pick at myself.

I would appreciate it, though, if you would be more cordial in perhaps... asking me how I'm judging rather than putting it out there that I am most likely judging by what you would assume why I needed the original pictures. I hope that you know me as a fair-settled person, and that's what I try to be. Why do you think I help out so much in the contest section? Thank you.

I think it was possibly this comment Kit, that made think you wanted the original images to compare colours etc.

May I say that I really love the idea of putting numbers instead of the artist's name. It makes you focus entirely on the artwork presented rather than who's behind it, and it's easier to make a completely fair, honest and unbiased judging that way :)
