Well, as I said in my last post here--regardless of how PJ interpreted that chapter, he changed it for the movie. That's not portraying his interpretation, that's showing how he thinks the chapter should be.

Isn't that portyraying his interpretation? :o

Lol. I understand you feel strongly about this and that's fine lol everyone's entitled to their own views, things like that bug me too sometimes but at the end of the day they were his movies and he was entitled to alter them as far as he felt they needed to be altered :)

I think Tolkien would have loved the movie. I'm sure his descendents did (:

Nononononono. How you interpret something is how you interpret what the author wrote. What PJ did is he changed what Tolkien wrote. All of the sudden, Pippin is doing stuff that shouldn't have needed to be done in the first place, and Treebeard loses my interest.

Okay. Well I'd say Peter Jackson interpreted the scene in his own mind and used Pippin's character to carry out certain tasks that he seemed fitting to emphasise Pippin's strength of will and determination. It shows Pippin's perseverence to those who haven't read the book

The Ents in the book are much more developed characters, and they play a bigger part too.

I like Tolkien's version better, since, as I said, it pretty much ruined Pippin and Treebeard for me.

I can see what you mean a little by that Aerandir. I think that in the books, Merry and Pippin are alot more dignified, and at the end they really show that honor, which is not portrayed so much in the movies.

I beg to differ on that actually. I think movie Merry and Pippin are very much dignified in their own respect, it's just that they've been categorised as the "comic relief" so often that we can't get that stereotype out of our minds.

Lar dear, I think that in comparison to the book they are much less dignified... And they are fairly comic in the books too :P

I agree with you Aerlinn on that Entmoot thing. Twould have been groovy! And with Merry and Pippin going to that young Ent's house.
There are ALOT of things which should have been put in I think... As well as some which shouldnt have. I mean its all very well that they added the romance between Arwen and Aragorn, but TIS NOT IN THE BOOK! Its like making chocolate chip cookies with no chocolate, shortbread crust and raisins. You end up with like... Raisin Shortbread instead of chocolate chip cookies! I mean I LOVE the movies... But they are just so very different from the books.

In the books Tolkien made all the characters such great dignified people... I was actually CRYING when I read the death of Theoden. In the movie its not so intense because you dont come to respect him that much.

However, no copmlaints. Well... at least not TOO many ;)

Mmm.. I guess we're all entitled to our own opinions, however I still think [though maybe not as dignified as their book counterparts] that they had a certain degree of dignity that people don't usually credit them to. The same with Theoden. He certainly didn't begin TTT as very dignified, but I think he grew into the part moreso than Merry and Pippin.

At the risk of continuing to be off topic I'll leave it at that. :P

I agree with you Telcontar. He was more "wise" and a lot more interesting. As for giving Pippin something to do and showing that Hobbits could be Heroic i think that may have something to do with it Anie Surion. I still would have loved to see all the Ents marching through the forest and singing their war song. That would have been a scene Huh?Kind of scary though. But, like you guys said, Pippn and Merry needed something to do and i guess thats why PJ did what he did.

That would have been totally awasome! lol I love ents. Treebeard is one of my favorite characters. :)

*nods enphatically*

yeah... that woudl have been awasome....
