Rank titles... what an exciting topic!!

People who get to the custom ranks have already become used to waiting a long time before their number of posts gave a new rank title. I think it should still be something special even though there is no new rank to post towards. It is still some kind of privilege to be able to change the rank but it wouldn't be so special if people could do it all the time. If they were only allowed to change every three months it would be something to be looking forward to. It's still four times a year!

Another idea (whish I don't like so well, actually!) is to offer them the opportunity of changing once they have posted another 1000 posts.. or 500 or something. Just like the orninary ranking system works. But to me it sort of defeats the idea because it encourages posting for quantity rather than quality.. *ponders* but then again.. members who get to 9000 posts have been around for a long time and usually posts very meaningful posts..

OK, so I understnad that its hard to go and change something when you have a set routine(Moddies), and I think everyt wo months would be a good idea, most people that are going to reach the custom rank are going to be resposible and sympathetic to the Moddies, having been around for a decent while.

I like Taur's idea of letting someone who has newly reached the rank fiddle around with it for a few weeks(one/two), before having to settle on just one. And personally, if I ever do reach the custom rank bit, I dont think I'll be changing it every two days, it's a rank, their not meant to change rapdily unless you are an over obsessive A-U junkie and spend your whole life on here.

I agree with what Eä said. It is quite the accomplishment to reach 10,000 posts, and I think that the ability to choose your own rank would result in some well-thought-out, indivdual ranks loved by their owners, and thus there would not be need for changing them too often. Besides the fact that we don't want to overwhelm the Mods, a Title should simply be pretty conrete, I think. Even names change all the time on here, and it would be nice if people could settle on one defining phrase for themselves. So, changing every few months at the most is a good rule, I think.

That sounds good to me! I think a limit is great so people can have some time to think about what they want their title to be.
