I'm not sure if there was ever a topic posted like this, but... I hate having to sit and page through topics. What I mean is if a topic has 488 pages, let's say, and I want to get to page 244, I hate having to sit and search through all of those pages. Might it be possible to get a search for page (insert number here) on topics? |

I remember asking a question about this some time ago. Let me find the thread for you, perhaps that can help you. Here: http://arwen-undomiel.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6566 Kitoky wrote: There's no real efficient way to go to certain pages of a list of posts like for threads or the memberlist but the closest thing we have is at the bottom of every thread there's a....
Display posts from previous: [ All Posts ] -- [ Oldest First ] [ GO ] option. However, you generally have to guesstimate how long ago the post or page was used to post, with this you can atleast narrow down the list of pages to get to the page you want or estimately want. Say you take the 200 pages and you want to look for page 100, guesstimating that the thread had been open for say...6 months. And accumulating 200 posts in a 6 month range, in the All Posts option - you select 3 Months. This now brings the thread up but only giving all you the pages and posts that it had accumulated in the last three months. This should bring out around 100 pages of posts, but you do have to search a bit. Hope that helped! -[Kitoky] But actually it is still quite bothersome. I'm not sure the search for an exact page number within a thread is possible with this forum... |

the other thing I do... and yep I'm annoyingly anal about some stuff.... each page has 16 posts... so I subtract however many pages I want to get to an approximate point by subtracting (number of pages) multiplied by 16... like 3 pages back is -48, or 5 pages back is -80 on whatever the number in the url is... For example in the thread Introduce yourself, url for the last page is: http://www.arwen-undomiel.com/forum/vie ... start=1984 So if I want to go back 3 pages, I do... 1984-48=1936... not a great way to do it... but for a thread like that, which is 125 pages long at present, it keeps me from having to click the page number at the bottom over and over again. ...I warned you... yep annoying, sorry ![]() ~tin |

^ ![]() Wow, that confused me. ![]() It is a pain, and I have been a victim of sifting through pages *click* pages *click*. On some forums, sites etc, there is a little box that you can type a page number into and *zoom* it takes you there. Whether something like that is compatible to this forum I don't know. [please notice the use of a big word there] |
