After a week of grunting, sweating, gaining another dose of carpal-tunnel syndrome, needing glasses even further, and down right getting sick of your graphic making program, I am joyous and sad to announce the graphic maker's cookoff '08 have come to an end. We had our laughs, our tears, and our times that we wanted to punch the computer because the graphic was not turning out the way it was supposed to, but, in all, we
preserved through it in the mist of our schedules.

The boring stuff that you need...
HOW JUDGING WORKED:
Quote:
I made sure everyone had all of the respectful minimum requirement graphics.

Only graphics on the thread were counted, and they were given the respectful point counterparts. The difference between simple and complex avatars happened once or twice, but was minute in the end totals, seriously. Odd graphics I placed in the nearest point catergory based on size. However, if they fell in the middle, I averaged the two respectful point values. Also, I gave awards 2 points, since they was not told in the thread.

Daily challenges were sent to judges that judged each entry in such a way as, for example, 4 entries would go from #1-#4, and 9 entries would have #1-#9. Contest entries counted as a normal graphic, and the place value added an additional amount of points. (1st. +15, 2nd. +13, 3rd. +11, 4th. +9, 5th. +7, 6th. +5, 7th. +3, 8th. +1)

For each individual, the totals of the graphics in their threads and the additional daily challenge winning points were added together to determine the place value in this cookoff.

Now, what you have all been waiting for...

WITH 1117 points, 3rd place goes to....
Image

WITH 1179 points, 2nd place goes to....
Image

WITH 1324 points, 1st place goes to....
Image

The rest of the places.....
Quote:
4th. 1023 - Dark, Queen of Angmar
5th. 881 - Altariel Frodo
6th. 869 - Johnny's Fan
7th. 643 - Elenya
8th. 329 - Nurrantiel Mashiara
9th. 307 - PirateoftheRings
10th. 275 - Revenge
11th. 187 - Meganelf

Smeag, you totally and completely rock. Seriously.  Thank you so much for the beautiful awards you've made, and for just organizing this whole thing and putting so much time and effort into it! It was a blast! :-D

And of course thanks to Aliana too for making awards and helping vote and so on. I still am in love with your graphics *points to sig* :-P

I guess just a huge THANK-YOU to everyone who made this work! I vote we do it again next year! :-P

WOOT! I am actually quite amazed about being 6th. I thought it was be like... last. XD :P And I'm a "Retouch Master". Put it on my luggage. XD [sorry, I'm verrrry random right now :teehee:]

Well I had one ace time, thoroughly enjoyed all of it, even the frenzied, pained moments which were moderately often.

To smeag and Aliana, if I was wearing a hat, I would take it off to you. I don't know how you managed to get it all working, make your own stuff and keep (reasonably) sane at the same time. Thanks guys for starting all this. One of my best weeks on AU EVER.

^I am by no means sane. However, the left side of my brain is back from vacation so I can think somewhat properly again.

Firstly, thanks for the kind comments everyone. I loved helping with the cookoff and definitely want to do so again next year. Though, honestly, Smeag did all the work. =P I just did what she told me to. I really, honestly don't know how she does it.

Second, I'm still in shock about winning so I'll get back to you on that. I was so sure it would be Dark, Smeag, and Pan in the top three; I'd been paying so much attention to what they were doing, rooting for them. Maybe I'm still sleeping. That would suck, a lot, because my hand and wrist still hurt. :P

Congratulations to everyone who participated, and a huge thanks to all of you. We couldn't have made this work without you all supporting it the way you did. There are a few kinks to work out, but considerably less than there would have been if you all hadn't been as outstanding as you are.

And if no one guessed it, I kinda made the theme this year the Circus. It wasn't very obvious. =P We didn't actually put it anywhere. =P

Wow! What a spectacular end to a spectacular week! Thank you thank you thank you to all of you for your hard work in putting it together, judging, and managing to stay sane. Most diverse...whoa. That is quite an achievement for me. I definitely enjoyed every minute of it, and I look forward to more years!

Awww thanks for the cheers Aliana! But I so knew you were going to be in the top three, your graphics were amazingly beautiful and plentiful ^^

3rd place=Shocked ><

Thank you so so much! I didn't see it coming, but I tried really hard and became a better graphics maker which I am most proud of.

I absolutely adored this contest and wished I didn't have to wait a whole year to start it again, but my fingers and eyes of course are saying otherwise =)

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU
To Smeag, Aliana, and all the voters for putting up with all of us and working on the awards and everything... It is really appreciated <3

P.S. I so own at at least one B&W photo, he just happened to be my my muse for the colorization contest -grins-

Haha, I love that award by the way dear!

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!

*laughs hysterically*

Aliana and JF - I don't know how I do it either. In case either of you were wondering.

Keeping my cool, well I did a better job than Aliana, except for the end.. when I was overally excited for all of the voting. And overlly excited for "Midnight" of Doctor Who, and hobbits, but that is typical.

Nurr- You're welcome.

Pandy - One B&W photo? Well, it used to be B&W, I'll give you that. :P

Anything you will like to see next year that didn't come this year? Any little things you will like to see changed?

Aliana said there was a circus theme, well if you make a theme next year again, then I believe that you should make a min requirement of doing so many graphics with said theme or whatnot... it'd be interesting ^^

That is a good idea.

It didn't happen this year because Aliana themed it like... yesterday.

Thank you Caunion. =)

Wow, fourth! And thanks for the lovely memorable award, it means a lot to me, to see my super large amount of insanely large amount of banners recognized. A huge thank you to everyone who participated, you guys made this past week super fun, despite the aforementions trials and tribulations of making so many graphics.

And special thanks to Smeagy and the judges, you made this go off without a hitch, and without you guys none of this would have been possible, so thanks so much!!
:)
