Hey everyone! We're about to start a helical pile installation project next month. Our crew has experience with traditional foundation work, but this is our first time using tracked pile-driving equipment. What are the main things we should focus on to avoid common mistakes?

Great question! The learning curve isn't steep if you establish good habits from day one. Start with proper work zone planning before any tracks touch soil - mark haul paths, swing radii, and exclusion zones clearly. Validate underground conflicts using current plans and ground marking to avoid utility strikes. For helical pile work specifically, torque selection is critical - use manufacturer curves to align torque heads with your target capacities. Keep baseline parameters documented: target torque, rotation speed, crowd pressure, and angle tolerances. Check out this detailed guide: https://ccr-mag.com/best-practices-for- ... equipment/ - covers everything from configuration to data capture. Run a brief start-of-shift huddle to align roles and review hazards. Most importantly, record live production metrics while running, not after. Capture start depth, final depth, average torque, and any refusal conditions for each pile.
