This tutorial will learn you to change colours on an image so it looks real.

I will show how you make this:

into this:

Step 1:
Find an image you want to change something on.
Lets say I want Arwen to have green cloak instead of blue.

Step 2:
Duplicate the original layer.
When on the copied layer go IMAGE -> ADJUSTMENTS -> HUE/SATURATION (CTRL+U)

Step 3:
Make sure your still on the copy layer.
Now you have to select the colour you want (hue).
After that choose which strength the colour should have (saturation).
You can change lightness also if you want.

When your done click OK.

Step 4:
On the same layer go to LAYER -> ADD LAYER MASK -> HIDE ALL
Now you should see the uncolourized layer.

Step 5:
Now you need to work a bit more.
Take a normal brush (white colour) and start brush on the parts you want in the colour you selected.

Step 6:
Now go to layer effects and choose hue or soft light, may work with other effects to.
You can use opacity/fill in some cases.

Done!

The redish is pretty bad, but it was just to show HOW to make it. :bye2:

Ask questions if needed. :)

That's helpful, but IMO, it takes quite a while, especially if you're doing a whole coloization.

Yes but you'll be happy with the end result though. ;)

This is the best way that I know of that will give you a great result (theres more ways, but it won't look as convincing).
