Heya
I´m at my dad´s comp (he´s got a comp!) and I just figured out that he´s got PSP 9 & Corel on it. Now I wanna make myself a banner (well, who doesn´t) using this pic: http://arwen-undomiel.com/images/arwen/ ... en_sc4.jpg
Ok. I´ve opened it in PSP but it´s a slightly big thingy and if I want to resize it to 750x150 it appears ... well, strange.
I don´t know how to fix it, to add more pics to the banner ... Well, I don´t know anything. :P

And if anyone can tell me (in a very simple way) how to make something, I´d be very grateful. Thank you. : )

(btw, I won´t be here much bc it´s kinda slow connection to web :()

Edit: wait... I´ve actually managed to make something:

Don´t laugh, I know it´s pathetic ...

Hey Elf girl....what you made turned out fine. I can help though with your resize problem. When you have an image and go to resize, it has pixel and percent in PSP. Also they are locked together. You can change it so they are not locked, but as you seen it made the image look a little weird. So what I always do is keep them locked and use percent. It seems to work the best for me. Make it as close as possible and then when you copy and paste the image into your background, paste as a new layer and then move the image until its as close to what you want as possible.

I hope this helped. If not or you need me to walk you through it better, let me know

*wanders off to try to make some more and hopes there will be no more troubles*

oooooo i like the second try...i guess you found the mirror effect..lol

ok now to change font color: There is 2 boxes on the right side if you put the cursor over them one says foreground and the other background...they are for color. usually the forground box is the how to change font color. So what you do is click the font tool(the A)on the left hand menu bar. Then at the top there is selections for font type, size, floting, vector or selection. Things like that. Once you decided the font and size, go to the forground box and right click to pick your color. Now you have colored text*smiles*

Now for brushes. Those you need to find by searching the net or by going here http://www.ajoyfulheart.com/pspphotosho ... ources.htm

PSP comes with a few standard brushes but nothing fancy. Also to use a brush you need to pic the paintbrush tool which is on the right side tool bar. Then at the top you will see a box that has the picture of the brush tip, click that box and you will see the different types of brushes you have. But as I said nothing really good until you find your own.

If you need more help PM me or ask in here, I will keep my eyes open.

Thanks you two :)
DB - yeah ...
About those boxes ... I can´t find them!! Maybe it´s just my eyes or they´re really somehow lost here. The situation looks:
http://tinypic.com/jttb1e.jpg
I´ve d.loaded almost all of A-U.com brushes, unzipped & imported them to PSP. I can put them into the image but since I have no clue about using them I guess they´re of no use, are they? *angry w herself*
Just another question ... (yes I´m sorry but I´m stupid :confuzzled:) How to put more pics to banner? I know it´s somethign about feathering & such ...

ok well i seen your PSP screen shot and on the right side there should be a menu bar..not sure why its not there for you but just check out some of the buttons to see if you can find it and open it...sorry but mine has always been there lol. Now on the brushes I told you how to click on the paintbrush and in the menu bar just above your work area will change to be used with the paint briush. There should be an area with a black circle in it. If you click on that box it will open it up and show you all the brushes you have. Also you can change the size and opacity(shows up more or less) Choose the brush you want and place the cursor over your image. It will show the brush image on your background.

The final question. About the multiple images in a banner. Yes, it does have to do with blending and feathering. This can be very confusing so just use my advice as a starting point and play around with it. I am going to be using your banner you have on AU as an example. First get the images you wanna use for your banner and open them in PSP. Then change the size to fit into your background you have opened for them. Its good to overlay one of the edges on the pics with an edge from another. Now to feather, on the left hand side there is a box called selection tool. click the arrow and find the box looking selection tool. Click on that and it will change your bar at the top. Now it will show "selection type", "mode", and "Feather" also a little box called Anti Alias. Leave that box checked. Selection type has different shapes, for this leave it on rectangle. Mode, have it on replace. Feather, have it on 40 or something close. The feather is how much you wanna remove, its really up to you but I like 40.
Now what you do is on the image make a rectangle hanging over the edges a little bit and you will see how wide it shows, again this is your choice. Now once you have the desired size of deletion you will see the line where your deleting will take place, to delete some of the image hit "Delete" key on your keyboard. Its all about trial and error. If you can find the menu bar that I was talking about for your colors, if you make a mistake you can undo the change by clicking on the move you made. Im sorry this is probubly a little much or confusing. If you need me to slow down or walk you through it more personal, let me know. All you can do for now is trial and error. You will get it soon like I did

^ Thanks. :)
Even though I´m back home now (no stupid PSP questions ... sorry) I´ll try it the next time I´ll be at my dad´s. I think I´m going to give up now. I´m a hopeless case.

It's never hopeless. I had PSP 9 for two months before I figured out how to work with layers. I'm also too stubborn to ask for help. :P So you're one step ahead of where I was already. :)
