I take no credit for writign this I'm just going through a few posts on the old forum to bring across a few things that we're missing here.

If your curious or unsure what to save your images as, here is a great explanation of what the different formats are.

BMP- Never use this format! It use no compression at all and is huge! The quality of the images doesn't get better of it either, things just take ages to load! So if you can, keep as far away from this format as possible!

PNG- Use this as rarely as possible. It is the format that gives best quality, but take a huge ammount of space and if you don't have broadband this will take ages to load. It uses higher compression than BMP, but still it takes up way too much space, and most banners/blends don't need the quality this format gives, so try to stay away from it.

JPG- The most used of the image formats. This is the recommended format as all browsers should be able to view it, and it takes much less space and time to load than PNG and BMP, with almost no impact on the quality of the graphics. Use this as much as possible!

GIF- The format that gives lowest quality. It takes up more space than JPG, and have really poor quality unless things are really small. This should be used for things such as avatars, buttons and such. This is the only format you can save things in if you want it animated.

Good to know. I just have one question...well maybe two. What kind of software and/or progams do you need to use to make bannars and such? (I really don't know anything about graphics but really want to know.) Also where do you get the pix? Can you use any that you find online or is that like stealing?

May I?

Programs such as GIMP, Photoshop, and PSP ((Paintshop)) are the widely used programs..You can find trials on the internet. Also..there are tutorials on the site for both PS and PSP

Pictures in galleries are usually for graphics, but make sure you see if there's a copyright, and terms of uses and read it if there are and follow the rules..otherwise, feel free to use them...legally of course.

Thanks!
