Ah, but it is true. Marie Antoinette [the movie] was terribly done. Not all of the facts were wrong, but I noticed a few of the important ones that were. And, Kirsten Dunst just wasn't up to her usual standard.
Well, we studied World History and we TOUCHED on one monarch. Lady Catherine and that's basically it. And we mentioned Louis the something's wife in the French Revolution and that's it. =/ I need to go out and get meself an eddocachion.

I know that comment has nothing really to do with me, but we do learn European history in the U.S. It's an AP course, at least where I live, and I took it in my senior year.

^our school doesn't offer AP European History. You have to study for it yourself! That kinda stinks. and then we have world history which is really weird because it only covers some parts of the world.

Well... last year we learned about US history. But, I think thi year we're learning about the Eastern side of the world. That's where Europe is so does it count?

You don't have school because of elections?
o.o
Unfair, I want that too! (mostly cause that means I'd rarely go to school, roflol)
Edit:
You were talking about history?
I'm from Europe and we learn *world* history at school. Much better than orientating on only one thing imo. (we learn of our national past too and I hate that. Heh, so much on being proud..)

We're having elections here today... my parents went out to vote this morning. My older sister doesn't follow politics so is just asking my parents who to vote for.
Welcome back, Haldir!

I haven't heard of her either. I don't know very much about American women or non-European female historical figures. The Queens of England are more familar to me, but actually it is an actress who I have always found very inspiring. Katharine Hepburn was not just an actress but someone who managed to survive and come out on top, in what was essentially a time when the theatre and cinema was a man's world. Where more money was given to males, roles were not of their choosing and after they got older, no good roles came their way. But Katharine, with her quick wit, sharpness and intellect, and her tom boy ways managed to change all that and had a successful career where she wore the pants not the males around her.

How neat! A while back when the "Which Celebrity do you resemble' thread was still popular, I entered the generator and it said I looked like Katharine Hepburn, so. Or was that the other Hepburn ? I don't remember. It's all the eyebrows.
I s'pose one of the historical women I've adored as Andromache of the Iliad.

Yeah, I completely agree with you, Larael! At my school it's nearly the same, which is very sad...
*thinks hard about a historical woman that has influenced her*
Well, I think one historical woman would be Queen Elizabeth I of England. We talked about her in history lately and I think she showed very much courage during her reign and achieved much for her country. She was one of the first female monarchs at that time and she overcame the negative opinions of her male contemporaries. In my opinion she's a fascinating historical person..
Btw: Welcome back, Haldir!
