I see absolutely nothing wrong with Tauriel. Maybe you could at least wait to actually see her in the film before you decide to hate her? Who knows, maybe she'll be lovely--maybe she will, maybe she'll be terrible. But give her a chance!

Of course I will give her a try! I am not fan who throws everything to trash before looking at. But I really doubt I will like her, honestly. Like I didn't like the change about Sam and Frodo before Shelob.

@ aralas_29: My favourite Elves are Beleg Strongbow, Gwindor and Saeros. They appear in the children of Húrin and Beleg and Gwindor appear in the Silmarillion, too.
I doubt that I´m going to like Tauriel. She sounds pretty much like a Sue. But I think Finduilas (she appears in the children of Húrin) is worse for hurting Gwindor. She is betrothed to Gwindor and as he escapes from Angband finally return to Nargothrond she falls in love with Túrin. What do you think about her?

Not a nice thing to do, really--but she certainly didn't deserve to die like she did. Hers is one of the sadder deaths in Turin's story, I think. Yeah, my favourite elves are all from the Silm. Fingon and his sister Aredhel are my current favourites, along with Feanor's sons.

Even if I REALLY don´t like her; she didn´t deserved being pinned to a tree with a spear. Fingon is great. But the Feanor's sons are cool, too.

you are right! I think I read somewhere that Tolkien was thinking about naming Arwen Finduilas.

I'm pretty sure that Finduilas was an earlier name for Arwen in the drafts for The Lord of the Rings, ultimately changed to... erm... well, Arwen. And Strider was 'Trotter' for a long time too [and Trotter was a Hobbit at first]. It's in the history of The Lord of the Rings, which takes up a number of volumes in The History of Middle-Earth 12 part series.

It does sound interesting! I'd like to read or see it too. I'm pretty sure it's a book though.
