Yay, new members! Thank you for helping us revive this thread!
Who besides me has (or has listened to) the Open Door? (Because i think it'd be fun to discuss it. )

Me! *raises hand*
I loved most of the songs very much (the only one I didn't like at all was "Lose control").
It was really strange, but a few weeks after I got the album I realized how real the songs are---i'll explain.
I've been going through a pretty hard time with school and other problems, and in one particular situation I felt like I was all alone and nobody was there to help me to get through it all. And what came to my mind was the line "And i'm alone now" from "Your Star". I mean, it was amazing, it fitted so well in real life
(But don't worry, I'm ok again )

That she does. Forever, i know what you mean. One of the things I like about them is that you can relate to them even (or especially ) when you're feeling kind of down. It brings beauty into the darkness of depression and such. (And yes, i'm kind of speaking from experience, though i'm also getting somewhat better. So don't worry about me.)

Well, I love "The Open Door"! This was actually the album which made me a fan of Evanescence.
Before it's release I only knew "My Immortal" and "Bring Me To Life" . But then a friend gave me "The Open Door" as a birthday present and I fell in love with the music at once. I've bought "Fallen" as well now and I love it, too... Amy Lee has such a wonderful voice!

I actually prefer Origin over anything else. Or La Noveau Gothique, Fallen isn't that bad... The Open Door has kida dissapointed me, but that's just MHO.
Amy Lee ftw!

I LOVE! the open door. I am going to have to say that snow white queen is my favorite song on the album. But Like you, Lithium, and the only one. I Thought "Lose control" was kinda wierd. Ad I dont care for good enough at all. Its to happy sounding for evanescence. But I love the new album. Fallen is still better.

I thought that, for a "happy sounding" song, as you put it, Good Enough was pretty good, lol. It kind of has that wistful sound, and (to me) the not-quite-being-able to believe it's going to stay good enough is sort of like what Evanescence might usually do...anyway, i guess it's nice to have a slightly more contented song at the end, lol. It hasn't been my absolute fave either, though i think it's growing on me.
I liked Snow White Queen, too. It has that "Narnia sound", if you know what i mean. And it's so sad, knowing that Edmund will find out that the "Queen" isn't the answer to his problems... I've always kind of liked Edmund, so it's nice to have such a good song that's (apparently) from his point of view.
My very favorite on the Open Door is Lithium, followed by Like You. Some others I like are All that I'm Living For, Weight of the World, Cloud Nine, and also Sweet Sacrifice, Only One, Your Star, and like i said Snow White Queen. So...almost the whole album. Which is a good feeling. I was kind of freaked out by Lose Control at first, too, though now it kind of fascinates me...like the Ring *gulps* lol sorry... I still love Fallen, too. No song by Evanescence has yet surpassed My Last Breath, in my opinion.

Yeah, MLB's great! But my fave remains Lies, probably.

Lies?? I don't even know this one. Stupid me
I personally liked "Good enough" very much. I mean, you can't always listen to depressing songs... and who said that Evanescence can't have positive songs as well?

I like "Good Enough" as well, because it reminds me a bit of "My Immortal" which is my favourite Evanescence song ever.
It belongs to my favourite songs of "The Open Door". I also like Lithium, Snow White Queen, Sweet Sacrifice, Like You, Could Nine, Only One and Your Star very much.
@ Antigone: Is "Lies" part of "Origin"? I've thought about buying that CD as well, but I found it no where and in the internet it's too expensive. Is this album worth buying it?

Hooray! This club has been revived!
I only know Fallen and The Open Door as far as their albums go. I liked Fallen better. There isn't a single track on that CD that I don't like. As for the Open Door, I don't care for Lose Control especially. I also really don't like Call me When You're Sober. It's ok, but not that great. The Only One.... I think I didn't like it because I didn't feel like I related to it that much. In fact, when I first got The Open Door, I didn't like it that much because I was expecting it to measure up to Fallen, and it didn't. I also didn't feel like I related to many of the songs. Now, I haven't listened to anything else for about 2 weeks. Nothing else satisfies me. If I try to listen to another CD, I just want Evanescence. My favorites on Open Door are definitely Lithium and All That I'm Living For, but I love the rest of the album too, with the exeptions of the ones I've mentioned above. I still love Fallen the best, and like Eariel, my favorite of their songs is still My Last Breath, but really, I just like this band as a whole. Amy Lee probably has the prettiest voice I've ever heard. I wish mine was half as pretty.
But yes...... Evanescence is just special for me because I feel this..... connection with it. Like somewhere, above everything else, I resonate with their music. And even though it's not really a good feeling, because many times, like just last night, I end up sobbing into my hands when I listen to them, it's still just good to know that someone somewhere gets it. They know how you're feeling in that moment, and they've manged to turn it into a song.
Sorry for the rant everyone. Thank yous to everyone who actually read it.
By the way...... I just realized I forgot to ask....... can I join?

I'm sure you'd be able to. Well said, TT. Welcome.
You're right, Forever, there's no rule that Evanescence has to be "depressing" all the time, lol. And Good Enough has grown on me. I like that tender quality it seems to have, if you know what i mean. Oh, in my last post, i forgot to mention that i also like Lacrymosa. So, really almost the whole album. (TT, Call Me When You're Sober isn't one of my absolute faves either, but i really like the second part of the bridge--the "How could I" part. ) I've got to go now, so bye possibly till January.

I understand what you guys are saying. They could be happy if they want. Its their music not mine. I just didnt care for the song that much.
My favorite song from them ever i think is Hello. Its so pretty and Sad. The one I seem to realate to most though is "Like you" and "Everybody's fool." But For a while, Snow white queen was TOTALLY my song. There was a guy stalking me when I first heard it. lol
But I love the open door. I was kind of disapointed by it at first, then I watched an interview with Amy lee and she said something that made alot of scence to me.
She said that alot of people are not going to like the CD, because they are expecting it to be just like "Fallen" and its going to disapoint them because its not. Then she said that (I quote) "But to me it doesnt matter if they dont like it, because its my album. If they dont like it, that's their dicision."
I thought that was soooo evanescencey of her. The rebeliousness of it. lol But after that, i listened to it, and stopped comparing it too fallen. and it completely changed my view on it.
