Yes, exactly what I meant! The fast food! XP Yes! It is SO gross! At one point in time, some people were selling "Unhappy Meals" because they found out how McDonalds kills their chickens, and the boxes they sold them in were really disgusting. they had "blood" splatters on the inside! 0_o
Shall we speak of something else, ladies? This could become the ungentlewoman's society!

I can't even eat McDonalds food. It actually makes me sick to my stomach. Literally. I can eat the McFlurries, that's about it. I'll eat at Burger King but on a rare occasion. Wendys is alright, I do love KFC and Subway. I wouldn't really call Subway much for a fast food joint since their food is pretty healthy.
Accents was the current topic, we can go back to that? lol

Irish, Scottish, general British, and New Zealand accents for me. I love trying to put on different accents myself, but I have such a midwestern accent that it makes Irish and Scottish difficult. I can do a pretty decent 'posh' British accent though, from all my years of watching Harry Potter. XD

Yeah, I think when I go to America, I won't be bothering with fast food. I would like to try gourmet burgers and things like that. Traditional meals or meals that are specific to certain states/regions.
To be honest I'd be more leaning towards the desserts and cakes. I love my desserts. And also the sweets. I just love American sweets.
I'm thinking about making pumpkin pie as I would really like to taste it, and I don't believe, even for all the American desserts we have over here, I have ever seen it.
French accents can be so smooth and sounds so nice on the ear. Other times it can be harsh and just grating. I think it depends a lot on the person who's speaking it.
I guess one of the big things for me about American accents is the variety. Even on the East Coast, with states literally next door to each other, the variety is amazing. The difference of inflection between Maine and Boston, New York and Connecticut. I think it's just fascinating.
I do have a bad habit of following American accents. Like the other week I was in HMV and a woman and a man were holding a bag with a CD they had just bought and she said "we only saw him on *chat show can't remember the name but it's American* last week". And as soon as I heard the voice, I was ZIP following behind them, once again wishing I had on my Gettysburg t-shirt... or my Washington T-shirt... or my Mount Rushmore t-shirt... or my New York t-shirt.. so they might turn round say "hey!" and then I'd be on the plane back with them. Alas, I always wear the wrong t-shirt, they never look around anyway, and I'm too shy to instigate a conversation.
I would just like to take this moment to shamelessly advertise our big upcoming event here on AU. I know some of you will not be familiar with our very popular Hallowfest, but I think you're up for a laugh and like randomly accusing people of murder (and who doesn't?) you might enjoy yourselves during the Halloween period. Oooh, JF, I loooooooooooove pumpkin pie! It's super easy to make, too, if you go with a pre-made crust. However, we're in a bit of a pumpkin shortage right now! Pumpkins for carving have increased in price since last year--even little ones that you don't traditionally carve--and my mom says canned pumpkin for use in pumpkin pie is harder to find at the grocery store. I can't really explain pumpkin pie except to say that it tastes like autumn...more specifically, to me it tastes like Thanksgiving. ^_^
It's true, we do have a wide variety of accents and dialects in America. One of my college classes is Voice and Diction for Theatre, so we're learning how to "correctly" pronounce words in order to do what they call a "General American Accent", but the book we use offers insight into different dialects and differences between speech in regions. Even within my class, it's amazing how we all talk so differently, and yet some of it is so subtle I never would have realized it if I didn't take the class.
And I'm so glad I'm not the only one who follows people with cool accents around, just listening to them...I remember doing that with a British family at the Disney Store in Chicago, and my dad jokingly grabbing my arm and saying "Stop stalking the Brits. You're gonna cause an international incident."

*is going to be watching her back for stalkers now*. haha I love Key Lime Pie. The best is when you can get the real key limes and not just regular limes. Personally I am a fan of cheesecakes. White Chocolate Raspberry Cheesecake is my number one favorite.
