Lol. I'm joining.
I'll use my made-up Dunedain name, Moradan. He doesn't have a surname, because that would require a story to explain it, which I don't feel like making right now.
Big important thing to notice if you don't want to look ignorant when you talk about the Dunedain:
There are no Dunadain, only Dunedain. That's the plural form. The singular form is Dunadan. Note the complete lack of the 'i' in the final syllable.
So, basically, when there's one, he/she's a Dunadan (Man of the West), and when there's two or more, it's Dunedain (Men of the West).
Now. On to the next topic.
I would say that the greatest Dunedain were Elros (duh), Tar-Palantir, Tar-Meneldur, Isildur, and Aragorn. All of them were very cool, especially Aragorn, though.

Most underrated? Um.....Tuor, maybe. He wasn't all that well known except with the Elves of Gondolin, and those who dwelled near the Mouths of Sirion.
Neither Tar-Palantir nor Tar-Meneldur really get a lot of credit for their actions, but they both did a lot, too. Tar-Meneldur gave up the kingship to his son because he felt that his son (Aldarion) knew better than he how to respond to the 'threat' of Sauron. He could have ruled for a lot longer, but he resigned so his son could rule. That was really underappreciated.
Tar-Palantír went against the popular feeling of anti-West, and tried to patch things up with the Valar, undoing what his father had done. Also underappreciated.
However, the one with the largest amount of misconceptions of him would definitely be Isildur, I think. Most people don't think that much of him, unless they've read The Unfinished Tales of Numenor and Middle-earth. Even those who've read The Lord of the Rings still sometimes think ill of him. He was a lot better than he's normally made out to be.

Most underapreciated Dunadan? I think Aldarion. You kinda see him in a negative light in the Tale of Aldarion and Erendis, but look at all the good stuff he did for Numenor: He built a port on Middle-Earth and found more timber for his ships then in Numenor.

He's in a spotlight in that. Both positive and negative aspects of him are shown. Some realized that what he was doing was for the better, some did not. Only Aldarion knew why Meneldur gave him the kingship (besides Meneldur, duh... )
And we all appreciate his efforts, unlike Isildur. He might have been highly appreciated by the Elendili, but not by most LotR fans in our world.

My guess he was is he's underapreciated because of what he did to Erendis.

Well, the Rangers aren't really a race. They're just the pureblood Dunédain.
I honestly prefer the Edain over the rest, because they were really active during the Wars of Beleriand. But since this is about the Dunédain, not the Edain, they don't count.
I like the Numenoreans over the Gondorians, though.

I said earlier that tho the original purpose of thisi s Dunedain, I dont mind if we dirverge into Edain as teh two subjects are interrelated. So they do count lol. Genral edainishness really I spose. I dont think the mods have any objections

Okay. Well, I still prefer the Edain over the Dunédain. And more specifically, the Numenoreans over the Gondorians.

Yeah, the Numenoreans are pretty cool, they had a long life-span and they knew their ships.
