Well, my dad had to teach me how to use Excel as well. He's quite familiar with it, because he uses it in office each day. First of all it's really hard, but once you know how it works, it's getting easier. Maybe I'll work out an "How-To-Use-Excel" plan for you when all exams are done. ;) But you could also search the internet. I'm sure you'll find some nice instructions or tutotrials. :)

Yep, who knows. Perhaps you're super-rich and can buy even more LotR stuff and DVDs! ;)

:jawdrop: Wow, you own signed ROTK posters, LOTR costumes, so much LotR jewellery and Sting? *wants to have some more LotR merchandise as well, but the stuff is usually soooooo expensive :(*
Maybe I should sign up for Ebay as well. You must find great stuff there and everything seems to be much cheaper than usual...

I'm hugely addicted to eBay. I'm a lazy bidder though so I usually only go for the "buy now" auctions. The eBay stores are excellent as well! I'm currently waiting for 5 CDs that I got from various eBay stores

Thank you oh master. Will you now teach me how to train gerbils to watch over auctions for me to get me the best deals? :P

And allow me to join in the 'wauuu'-choir... you own all that? What costumes do you have? *drools in a bucket*

My dad uses Excel too, but I'm not sure he would be a good teacher for me. To him it's all so easy and he's been using it for so many years that I don't think he can imagine what it is to a beginner. Actually, Excel should be a quite easy-to-use programme, I think perhaps my lack of motivation betrays me in learning....

@ Rose - That's a lovely thought. :teehee: If not, I'll have to find a rich millionaire instead.

Well we only have one signed poster - my brother bought that actually for about £111, most expensive thing we've ever bought on Ebay. As for costumes, it's just things like t-shirts, watches, baseball caps. Not things like Frodo's cape. :P It's mainly my brother that has all the clothing - he is a film clothing nut, he has more clothes than me. Sting is not an official product so it only cost something like £15 but it looks just as good.

Well some things are cheaper but some things will be more expensive as well. It really depends on what people want and what they are prepared to buy. For example: when WETA started producing LOTR items they cost from Sideshow $60. Some of these busts you will have to pay £200+ on Ebay as you will simply not be able to pay the price they were originally sold for. But people (like me!) are prepared to pay more than the sale price, that's our fault, not Weta....as I keep trying to tell my mum who says they are too expensive. :teehee:

@ Eru - Me too! Although I prefer to wait for auctions to end, in case they are cheaper than the buy it now. ;)

@ Ea - *hands Ea a cattle prod* This should work oh padawan. :P

*points to paragraph directed at Rose* ;)

There are a "couple" of other LOTR things floating round the house as well...but I won't mention them.

Ohh shiny!! I am sure the gerbils will jump for joy!

But what about shipping costs, especially abroad? Are they included in the price or will they be charged extra?
Goodness, it's so long time since I've been doing any serious online shopping. I believe last time was on Amazon.com and I was looking for textbooks...

Nice collection.. now you made me wanna get a pretty LotR thingie...!! :P

Well I only tend to by things from the UK so depending on what the item is, the postage cost is not too much. I have also bought some Weta stuff from the US - obviously it's been more expensive coming from America than it would be from the UK, but if I think it's reasonable I will buy it. Postage costs are not included in the overall price i.e the price you win an item for. They are the only extra costs you will have to pay. There's no tax or things like that.

Ebay huh? Well, I've only both a few things on Ebay in the past...god I don't know...five years. I don't use it much but then again, I do not have to extra money to spend. That place is very addictive.

Aww, the lack of motivation. Who doesn't know that ;)...Well, I would say that it's worst with programmes like Excel, because you don't really see your progress that much as when you work on other things (writing, graphics)...Perhaps you need your personal motivation assiant:)...*looks towards JF for that job ;)*

Wow, that poster was really expensive. Does it have the signatures of all actors or just of one? Well, but to own that much LotR stuff sounds good nevertheless, no matter if that are just t-shirts or real costumes, and owning a Sting-replica is great as well.
I didn't imagine all the WETA stuff to be that expensive. I think you've posted a pic of your WETA collection in the picture thread some time ago, or? You must have spend a little fortune on it then...So you're perhaps already a WETA- merchandise millionaire and don't have to look for a real millionaire anymore. ;)

I'm the only LotR-obsessed person in my family, so it's pretty hard convincing my parents that I need some more merchandise stuff...

*thinks hard*
I don't think I own any LotR merchandise...
*smacks both hands over her mouth in shock, her eyes widen*
What?? What a fan I am... *cries* I never realized this until now... But I've got the books and I've watched the EE movies several times in LotR marathons...

@ Rose - it is a 22 signed poster, it has all the major actors as well as PJ's signature.

Well I know the market pretty wel on Ebay for WETA stuff - it's actually pretty sad how close I follow all the buyings and sellings that do go on! Some things are very cheap - if you want a Pippin bust to try out WETA you would probably only have to spend £15. Well....I look at it this way. I don't buy myself expensive clothes, music, CD's etc like some people my age would so I figure it probably works out pretty even....as I said I'm tight fisted so if something is too expensive... :teehee:

@ Ea - if it were not for Ebay I would just have the books and DVD's as well. So....it's nothing terrible. :-)

@Eä: Well, I only own the books, the movies (not even the EEs), the TTT film poster (but without signatures) and the Evenstar pendant. That's all. As I've mentioned before, I'm the only LotR obsessed person in my family, so it was even pretty hard convincing my parents to buy the Evenstar pendant as a Christmas present. ;)

@JF: Oh, I've read "22 cast signed posters" instead of "poster" in one of your older posts, so sorry for my stupid question. That's wonderful! *admires JF's poster*
That with all the WETA stuff sounds interesting. I think I'm going to check out Ebay for some LotR merchandise...

Aww, shiny!!!
Hmm.. I always wondered what my signature would look like if I had to write it a hundred times a day for fans.... *ahem* yeah, I practised when I was a kid, tried out different signatures to be prepared to write autographs and sign random stuff!! But I never settled on one I liked... so good for me it has never been needed! :P

I wondered what we could talk about that would attract more posters, but it's difficult because most of the members here come by so rarely... well.. the job-topic, organising and budgetting-stuff were sorta heavy subjects, so perhaps it's time to talk about something lighter again...?

What did you dream about as a kid, future jobs, career, how did you look at the world? And how has it changed now?

I don't own much LOTR merchandise either. All I really have is the movies, books, soundtracks and a bunch of the TCG cards, that's it. But then again I got into LOTR pretty late but yeah.

when i was really little i had a job for every day of the week - i wanted to be a ballerina, a gymnast, an actor, a writer, a teacher, a police woman and a vet. i guess i haven't changed too much - i gave up on wanting to be a vet when i passed out watching animal hospital, and i stopped wanting to be a police woman when i realised how fit i'd need to be, but i still want to do far too many things that i'll never be able to do.
