Lol, Swedish Moose. That was a very enlightening post.
Here's a question to get us started again....which movie did you all like Jean's hair best in? I liked it best in X2, but the long hair she had in The Last Stand fit Dark Phoenix really well.

X3 had it best in every way. It was long, thick and beautifully red. Her hair in the first was more like an auburn colour. Jean didn't get called Redd for no reason lol her hair was practically scarlet. In X2 it was a nice colour. Not quite perfect, but in some lights it looked great. It was the cut I didn't like, just didn't suit Famke and made her look a bit too old.
But yeah, I digress. Her hair was perfect in X3, it suited the Phoenix/Dark Phoenix persona and was more like her hair in the comics.

Lol. I identify Jean Grey by the short hair (in the movies) of X2, and Dark Phoenix by the long hair. I like the way she looks with both of them, but I can't picture Dark Phoenix with short hair or Jean Grey with Long. It just doens't work for me.

Jean has always had long hair. Only time it was ever short that I can recall was in the Age of Apocalypse universe. Oops no it was short for a while at the beginning of the Ultimate series. But in the regular comic-verse it was always really long.

Hmm. It was pretty in X2 (I just watched that... yay)
So I guess we've ruled out X1. Her hair was so... boring.

It was sort of red, a little curly, and about shoulder length.

yah. It was ugly in that one.
I was meaning I identify the movie Jean Grey by the short hair. As for the comic-book version, I obviously can't, since, as you pointed out, she almost always has long hair.

I don't really identify movie Jean by anything other than she's played brilliantly by Famke. They changed Jean and Storms hair in every movie, so it's hard for me to identify with either in that way. It's easier for me to identify with the comic versions.

Everyone I know says that Storm has a mane in X1 and 2.

I much preferred Storms hair in X1, it was long and white. In X2 it was...odd. X3 nice, and I appreciate they tried to give Halle's wig depth by adding dark highlights. But Storm's hair is completely white lol that's the point. Also a bit miffed they didn't ever give Halle blue contacts either.
Sorry...nitpicking again.

Well, she has them in the comic. It was constantly pointed out, it's what makes her stand out. The white hair and the blue eyes are a sign of her heritage. It's long and complicated, but basically every other generation in her family a female member will take on these traits and become revered as a Goddess.
I know, I know I'm being horribly nit picky as I'm the rare breed of comic book fans that loved Halle. But sometimes for me the smaller details of the movies that were originally in the comic are more important to me than the bigger things.
