Can I join? I love kitties. I have two of my own, but my family and I also foster cats, which means we'll take cats from the local shelter that arn't ready to be adopted and keep them in our home until they are. Usually we have fosters because they're kittens and too young to be adopted, but we've had a few cats at our house either because they were too skittish or there wasn't enough room at the shelter. So the number of cats in our house can fluctuate.
The most cats we've had in our house at one time:13.
We had gotten to sisters who were pregnant. The vet predicted the first cats birth almost perfectly: he said she was going to have three kittens in about a week, and she did. The second cat, however...The vet said that she would have her kittens about a week after her sister, and she'd have two of them. We waited a week....
and then another week....
and then another week...
and yet another week, until she was as fat as a cow. When she finally did give birth a month after her due date, she had not two kittens but six. It was so much fun watching them grow up together.

Oh my goodness I have to post pictures of my kitties. We have 4. The first we got in 2001, a couple of days before my birthday. The next spring she had kittens, and we kept two. Then, last summer, we rescued a kitty from the street that we think was dumped (poor kitty! ). He wasn't even 8 weeks old at the time, and he was tiny. We call him Hambo because when he was a kitten he'd try to steal meat- like we'd be eating a hamburger or something and he'd come up and try to take a bite out of it! So we started calling him Hamburglar, which was shortened to Hambo.
Mama kitty (Trixie) isn't in any of these pictures because there aren't any good quality ones that I can find. And Hambo, the newest (and only boy kitty) is still a kitten in these. The other two, Smokey and Schatzi, are the two of the litter we kept.
Schatzi:

Smokey:

Hambo:

^Isn't he adorable? Of course now, he's a typical boy who likes to chew on me. But he's still sweet. I told my mom that his horns hold up his halo. Split personality cat!
(to prevent an image heavy post, most of the pictures are at the links)

I've got a story about my kitty.
My family and I went on a week long vacation. We thought that our kitties were being very well taken care of. Well, we get back and after an hour or two realize that we havn't seen Leona. My mom mentions that she remembers not seeing her before we left and was wondering if she had gotten outside. I go searching for her outside (she never leaves our yard, ever) and find her under the chimney. I brougt her inside. We have a pon in our backyard, so she got pleanty to drink, but we could tell that she hadn't eaten much. If you looked at her from the top, she looked extremely skinny. The funny thing is that wen viewed from the side, she still had pleanty of belly fat jiggling around. Now she's happy and full. (We were surprised that she only ate a couple of bites of food. I thought I'd have to take the food away to keep her from eating herself sick.
