Psh, go figure, only a few pages in and I've already hit writer's block. Probably because I'm over thinking things. Again. And I still need to do some more research on my topic too!

I'd like to join this club. I do a lot of story writing. I'm actually writing a six book series right now.

Thanks! :D

I do have something, that I will be working on soon. Someone gave me an idea. (I mean, literally.) They were posting old plots, that they had no intention of writing. I said I liked it, and they said I could have it, and use the plot however I wish.

I'd like some opinions on it, please.

In a distant future, the world is inhabited by these creatures that are cute and adorable. People are curious by them, and want to study them. As science progresses, they learn everything there is to know about them. All of this is publicized quite a lot.

They find out too late, that these creatures are in their true form, gigantic, lethal, and could wipe out the human race. But, they can't harm a person that knows nothing about them.

Some children are taken away at birth, and are raised in isolation, to stop them from learning everything about the creatures. In young adulthood, they are left in the wilderness, to wipe out the creatures out, before all humans are destroyed. But, they can't help being curious about their enemy.

That sounds like an interesting scifi novel! Now this isn't the six part series is it?

No, it's not the six part series. That idea is what I'm going to work on next. When I'm done with the series. I'm starting to think that I'm writing the series for personal reasons. Because, I really don't want to leave these characters behind.

Ah yes, developing characters you wind up "falling in love with" in a sense, and while approaching the end is exciting its also bittersweet. Seems when I write a character I really like, but I end the story they're in and I start a new one, I realize as I write that occasionally I'll have a character very similar to whatever character I had just finished writing about. Not all the time, but sometimes I do that and I dont realize it until later on.

I have fallen in love with the characters. When I first wrote it, I never intended it to be a series. But, I wanted to know more about them. How their mind worked. How they were beyond book 1 narrator's perception. Why certain characters acted the way they did. What was really going on in certain character's relationships.

Though, it doesn't mean that just because I adore the characters, I make their developments all rainbows and sunshine, coated in sugar and galloping unicorns. Some parts are really dark and twisted, and one particular character really mentally tortures themself.

For a long time, I wanted that one story that made me want to write a sequel. I suppose it's a case of be careful what you wish for, or it might come true.

I personally hate endings, because that means it's all over, and there's never going to be anymore.

Ok, so what is best, describing your character's looks all at once, or having details come out here and there over the course of a chapter or two, through other characters examinations, dialogue, or actions of the character? And what if you're thinking of making your story set in a fantasy world you create, yet you imagine your characters as having accents that come from real places (of course), could you somewhat hint at what sort of real region they would be from? Like for example say a character I created sounded Australian in my mind, would it be weird or anything to say the character came from a land called Down Under or something? (horrible example, but first to come to mind :p )

I think it depends on what type of story it is. If it's aimed for a younger audience then it's usually best to describe your characters relatively at once, once they've been introduced. If it's more of an adult story I usually go with giving away pieces of them now and again. As for looks though, I tend to give away at least the basics as soon as it fits in the story.

No, I think the accent thing perfectly makes sense.

And yeah, sure, Lhunardaien.

My dream job would be to make a living as an author! I definitely would want to join this club!

I've done a few poetry books and self published them and am actually getting ready to self publish my first novel so I'm excited about that for sure!
